Question??? - Help me Please!
1lilpeanut2love wrote: Okay... I just started taking an Anit-Depressant last week--Cymbalta. I have been having stomach aches and constipation. It's like I don't want to even go to the bathroom. I know I still have hemmoroids too...[sorry TMI] just wanted to tell the truth!
Does anyone have any good ideas for relieving constipation??
I feel like I did when I was pregnant. I had it really bad during my pregnancy. I am NOT into taking a laxative either. They make things worse for me!
Thanks for the help and any ideas given to me!

I know someone has some remedies!
luvmykids replied: You could try eating a few prunes, I can't think of what else helps. You might also want a stool softener, it doesn't do anything like a laxative just makes it more bearable when 'roids are involved Also, make sure you're drinking a lot of liquids and eating some good fiber.
Maddy'sMommy replied: I have never had that problem but my dd has and does have major constipation problems. The doctor had me give her milk of magnesia, minerial oil, high fiber foods. HTH
Jamison'smama replied: Typically the side effects of medication go away within a few weeks but for now, I agree with the stool softener as a starter, lots of fiber, maybe a fiber additive in the morning like Benefiber in your juice (tastless), fruit, apples, raisins, plums, bran cereal (Cracklin' Oat Bran is delicious). Don't let it get too bad--I've been there, it is not fun and took a while to resolve.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I agree with this. And a stool softener helped me tremendously without the cramping
CantWait replied: I found that orange juice really helps.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Thanks guys! I picked up a stool softener at the store!
My2Beauties replied: I was going to say the Benefiber too and foods rich in fiber, Raisin Bran always gets me going
amymom replied: Benefiber works well.
mom2my2cuties replied: Also you can try a Cranberry Raspberry juice. That ALWAYS works for me and Andrea
I was told to avoid Apple Juice though - because of the amount of natural pectin in apples - it just adds to it.
boyohboyohboy replied: colace is a good over the counter stool softener, and i think you should report your side effects to the dr, maybe there is a different antidepressant for you.
mckayleesmom replied: Ok.....Since were all being honest. When I was pregnant with Mckaylee...NOTHING worked...but.......McDonalds....
