Hillbilly Housewife replied: I started smoking when I was 15... smoked until I was 18... quit "cold turkey" when I started dating DH... had the occasional smoke now and then, while having a beer...or even occasionally with a coffee in the morning... (outside of course)
I didn,t smoke at all while pg with Zach, but I still go and have the occasional cigarette when I'm feeling really stressed.
MommyToAshley replied: Nope..never smoked. Never liked the smell of it, both my parents smoked and alot of my friends smoked.
TLCDad replied: I smoked from age 18 until about 3 years ago. I tried a couple methods but the one that worked for me was the Gum. I recommend it to anyone trying to quit because unlike the patch you are in control -- when you have a nicotine craving you just pop in a piece and it works. Also, what got me to quit was in respect for my uncle who died from lung cancer.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: It does stink. Now, when I sit on a bus or someplace else really public, I get up and go somewhere else if a smoker sits beside me... I can't stand the smell. I haven't actually had a cigarette in like 4 weeks. The last time, it was because my DH and I went to the grand opening of my Aunt's new bar... and, well, I wanted to have one! lol
But never ever ever do I smoke at home, or around Zach...and even if I have a cigarette, I try to take a hower or something before I pick him up from wherever he is, wether at daycare, or my mom's...
TLCDad replied: Both our parents quit smoking too.
I still get the occasional craving like after a good meal, drinking, stress etc. The graving doe not last long but it still happens and probably always will. I still have some gum left, so I figured if I ever get a craving I could not handle I'd rather chew gum then smoke and get hooked right back into it again.... but its been 3 years and I never had to do that.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Cravings were the worst when I quit. I was in a bad relationship, so I was always stressed... so I'd have one when I'd have my morning coffee (I don,t really do that anymore either...), I'd have one after my shower, I'd have one instead of breakfast, I'd have one while waiting for the bus to take me to work, I,d have one on the way to my work from the bus stop, I'd have one or 2 at my morning break...2 or 3 at my lunch break, 1 or 2 at my afternoon break..one on the way to the bus stp after work..one when I got home, one while making dinner..one after dinner... and pretty much chain smoked until I went to bed. I was addicted so bad, sometimes I even woke up craving a cigarette.
Ew.
I look back, and what was I thinking? lol!!

Have you quit yet? Finally quit (permanently) a little over 4 years ago, cold turkey. Tried the patch, to me it was useless because I figure most of it was psychological, not physical.
How long did it take you to quit? which time?? I quit when I was PG with my first one, then again several times between, and then when I went to Sweden to meet my DH for the first time. I started when I came home again due to some stresses in my life - I finally quit in February before we got married in 1999.
Any occcasional smokers? No, but when I have the occasional drink, I would *love* to have a cigarette but my DH would probably divorce me  And I really don't want to start again, but my guess would be that it would taste so bad, I wouldn't be able to finish it. When a customer that smokes comes into our store, the smell almost makes me sick!

How long did it take you to quit? about15 minutes. (Found out I was pg with Izabella. Freaked out. Had a cig d/t the whold "freaked out" part. Never had another one.  )
Any occcasional smokers? Nope. If I did that I would smoke all the time.
