sparkys2boys replied: Something doesn't add up at all. How in the world would they not wake up from her crying, I'm sure that after one toe was bite even a little she would of been screaming.. that poor lil baby, what a sin

stella6979 replied: Exactly! I would think that just one little bite from the dog would have the baby crying. Hopefully the truth will come out and that baby will be safe from now on.

lisar replied: If convicted, the parents face a fine of up to $500 and up to six months in prison.

Thats it. Thats all they would get. Thats crap. And yes I think they would have heard her cry after the first toe was bitten. The truth will come out. Atleast the baby is safe for right now.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: WTH is wrong with people??? That is SICK! If they did not hear anything it would have to be because they were passed out not sleeping... growl.gif They should not ever get that poor baby back! Who is stupid enough to have a pit bull with a baby anyway? bawling.gif That poor poor baby! I just pray that she is able to walk normally and that she does not have pain in that foot for the rest of her life...As for her parents I think they should have a few toes whacked off and nobody to hear them cry..... growl.gif

Crystalina replied:
I swear, I couldn't have said it better myself! growl.gif

luvbug00 replied: there are only 10 kids in the world who have that disorder where they can not feel pain. no child is going to be bitten by anything and not cry. I'd be shocked if this kid was #11 and also I feel bad for the puppy just doing what is natural and not realizing it was hurting the child.

PS. pitbull are VERY SWEET dogs, it's from idiot owners like thease as to why they have a bum rap.
pss. not long ago a westie killed a child and those are supposed to be sweet dogs too. it all depends on how a dog is raised not it's breed.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
I so agree.

I was so parinoid about my cats with kait when she was a baby no way would I have a pitbull running around a baby.

luvmykids replied: Sorry, any one of my kids would have cried at the first bite. And if the puppy was trying to nurse for the amount of time it would take to chew off four toes it must have been starved too. Those people shouldn't be allowed to have kids or animals growl.gif

Calimama replied: That is HORRIBLE. Some people shouldnt be parents. mad.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
exactly

JadensMama05 replied:
I just want to say that pit bull are not bad dogs at all. It's all in how they are trained. This one was a 6 week old dog, it didn't know any better and it was weaned too early. I've had plenty of pit bulls, none of which were mean at all. Right now I've got an 11 yo pit and we're going to be getting a puppy after Jaden turns two. The only reason that we haven't gotten one yet is cuz it'd be too difficult to train a puppy (of any breed) while trying to train a baby (for lack of a better term in this instance). I'm sorry but I was really insulted by this statement. I don't mean to be a B but I've had pit bulls for a long time and not once have I had a problem with any of them. And statements like this usually come from people who have never had an experience with one (that was trained to be good and not a fighting/aggressive dog) and are what is causing hundreds (maybe thousands) of innocents pits to face breed specific legislation and getting them killed. The dog canNOT be blamed here, it was far too young. It didnt know any better. I totally agree with the parents needing to get their toes chewed off tho. That'd teach 'em. Again, I'm sorry if I come off sounding like a B but I love pit bulls and I stand up for them every time I see something like this.

Crystalina replied:

I know many lovable (way too lovable at times happy.gif ) pitbulls. I've also heard of other dogs attacking people but it's not as "glorified" because it's a collie or mutt or even a chiuahua and it doesn't make for a good new story. dry.gif Pits do get a bad rap because their owners are idiots and those owners should never have a pit or any dog...any animal at all for that matter. growl.gif Rotts also get bad raps and before I had my Yorkies I had a Rott (Tequila wub.gif ) for 14 years. She was great with the kids and was the sweetest dog. She was our first baby. I would trust my Rott with my kids before someones smaller dogs. Small dogs are nastier but easier to control (except my yorkies who are big babys).

I think you need to know your dog, be able to control it, and always (no matter how lovable) be aware that it is only an animal and you never know what it will do next. I also think that some people make statements about Pitts because of what they see on the news and hear and they have never owned one to know that they are very huge babys when raised right. People can't really be blamed for what they don't know.

Crystalina replied: I also wanted to say that this puppy was more then likely teething and found a nice chewy baby toe to chew on. Dogs at that age chew on everything. The baby could not get away sadly. The parents are 100% to blame for this and I hope they get what's coming to them. growl.gif

JadensMama05 replied: I totally agree, Crystalina. The parents are totally to blame. Especially since it was happening RIGHT NEXT to them. They had to have been wasted on something. Thank you for concurring with me, also. Whether or not people want to admit it, pits (and rotts, etc), it's all in the training and the owners. I read an article in a magazine (from 2004..) that a lot of Americans simple associate pit bulls and rottweilers with drugs and violence because a lot of criminals have said dogs. That's a bunch of BS. But I suppose it's like associating poodles and toy dogs with wealthy people... I dunno. But another thing I read in that magazine article was that pit bulls used to be America's mascot. They used to have posters and everything with pits on 'em supporting the troops and all that. And the Little Rascals had Petey, who was great with the kids. Yeah, pits are very loving animals and wonderful with kids.

msoulz replied:
Yep, that answers the "how could this happen" question.

MotherForever2043 replied:
Exactly!!! I am speechless. I don't know what to say. And the fact that they only get 6 months in prison!!! That is absurd. growl.gif That baby will definetly be in my prayers. sleep.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: Thats is such a shame. mad.gif Some people have children and are very careless with them, when there are MANY people in this world that are dying to have a child and can't.

holley79 replied: dry.gif Were they high? There is no way they weren't and not heard that puppy gnawing on some toes. Annika would makes noises if one of the dogs were licking her feet much less bit them. I don't get it.
