Pros and cons - Netflix

MissyKay2005 replied: I have it and love it!!! It is nice to get them in the mail and you are most likely able to get new releases with out a wait. Well except you wait for them in the mail. And you can have a huge list of what movies you want to watch next and they just send them out as you send them back.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I have the blockbuster one...think it's the same, but not sure. DH signed us up! I love it! So much easier and I think cheaper than going to the movie store.
kayla's mama replied: I loved it when we had it. You never have to worry about late fees anymore It is cheaper than actually going to the movie store.
jacobsmama replied: I'm thinking about getting it...,sound pretty good from what you all are saying!!
NummyMommy replied: Ive had ours for over a year now....I think its wonderful....we dont have cable so Netflix is all the kids get to watch....they are always so excited to see the mailman!!...I mix it up between kids movies and grown up movies so I have something to watch while I fold laundry (which I HATE with a passion) Plus they have all kinds of TV shows on DVD so I get to share the shows I used to watch as a kid with my kids During school we usually get a lot of TV DVD's cause half an hour is about all we have time for during the week....and with 6-10 episodes on each disc we usually have leftovers for the weekend. I try to time it so we get at least one new disc every weekend but it doesnt always happen that way....but if you spread them out youre hardly ever w/o something to watch. I have Heidi (with Shirley Temple) on hold so as soon as it comes out on DVD I get it The best thing is I don't have to go anywhere to return them (which is a Godsend during the winter) The worst thing is forgetting to update my queue and not getting any DVD's for awhile before I realize it (happened once ) Now I try to keep my queue at over 25 so that doesnt happen. ooooo and another best thing......they ALWAYS have what I want....no schlepping to the video store to find all the good movies gone. I have never had to wait for a title I want......but then again.....maybe my tastes arent all that popular
mammag replied: I used Blockbuster also and thought it was great.
amynicole21 replied: It's fabulous. We've had it for over 2 years now and love it. The main thing you need to keep in mind is how often you can actually watch movies. Since Sophia's bigger now and able to understand what she sees, our movie selection and the time available to watch them have decreased greatly... no more R rated movies really limits things, you know? We are now on the 2 at a time plan and sometimes don't even get through the 4 we are allotted a month. Once we kept the same movie for 4 or 5 months because it was a crime drama with lots of scary stuff and we never had a free night to watch it - that really makes the service not cost effective.
jdkjd replied: Love it! I just wish I had more time to watch movies. Unfortunately, they sit around for awhile at our house.
I have rated over 2000 movies on it if anyone wants to add me as a "friend."
amynicole21 replied: Oooooh, me! You can add me, too. I'll PM you with our account
NummyMommy replied: Hmmmm I checked the prices and it looks like blockbuster may be cheaper....Netflix is $19 something a month for 3 unlimited.....looks like Blockbuster is either $17 or $14 a month for 3.....not sure if its unlimited and dont understand why its 2 different prices?!?! Anyways thats a good point about make sure you have enough time to watch them.....its only cheaper if you have a high turnover rate....otherwise youre paying for movies you arent watching (like when I forgot to update my queue ) but then if youre like us....and often cant return movies on time....or use it as a substitute for TV...then its a savings in the long run....ours is unlimited so as soon as they get them they send more, which means some months we come out waaaaay ahead by watching 20 movies for $19 and some months we are too busy so its like 6 movies a month. Thats still only like $3.25 per movie though isn't it? (I'm bad at math) We have a 3 or 4 day mail rate with Netflix(we mail on a Monday afternoon and get a movie on Thurs/Fri) how quick is Blockbuster?
kit_kats_mom replied: Love it. We have had both blockbuster and netflix but my DH does the sign ups so I don't know how much we pay for it. Right now we are putting it on hold for football season. The only problem is that if your SO has the password to update your queue, you may end up getting a ton of junk that you never watch. My DH decided to go to the "academy award winners" section and picked all of them since 1970 & added them to our queue. Once I figured out what he'd done, I fixed it. LOL
NummyMommy replied: ROFL I did that once.....decided to check out "Indie" winners.....ugh I was in trouble for that .....I told him "I thought you'd like this one" ....he turned toward me and with that look in his eye said "What in @#$! gave you that idea?!?!" and I was like "The reveiws had words like spellbinding and intrigueing" and he was like "Next time look for action packed and easy to understand" "got it hun" .... gotta luv him
coasterqueen replied: We had it along time ago when it first came out. We loved it at first but then we watched all the ones we really wanted to watch and felt like we were paying a monthly fee for something that just didn't seem cost effective.
Since we let Kylie pick out a kiddy movie or two we like to go and do this as a family. We do it once a weekend, getting a movie for ourselves and letting her pick out 1 or 2 on her own. She LOVES doing this.
For us it just wasn't cost effective and we found ourselves waiting and waiting to get them in the mail and sometimes they wouldn't come by Friday night when we REALLY wanted to watch them so we'd go and rent them anyways.
