Prenatals!

Italianhuney wrote: What Prenatal vitamins are you girls taking? I haven't had my first appt. yet so I don't know what's good but i'm taking equaline for now i'm not sure if that's any good or not!

ediep replied: haven't had my first appointment yet either, so I am taking Target Brand prenatals, I don't know if they are good or not either

luvmykids replied: I took a generic, I don't remember which one, but my doc gave them the ok.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I haven't had my first prenatal yet either, so I'm just taking a regular multi. Last time I was pg I took the Target brand prenatals at first and my ob said they were fine. I would rather have the prescription ones though.

coasterqueen replied:
I've been taking the Target ones since I had Megan. I hope they are ok. Let me know if they aren't. happy.gif I used to take prescribed ones but money got tight. blush.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: When I was PG with Lorelei I took ones that I found at a health and nutrition store. I think they were called "Dr. Murphy's Prenatals" or something like that.

This time, I'm taking the Melaleuca ones and everything is going great! smile.gif My dr. was actually happy that I was taking them. Go figure. I agreed with her about something. lol laugh.gif

PrairieMom replied: I'm on the walmart brand ones. Doc said they were okay. I started them 6 months before I concieved baby girl

ashtonsmama replied: Taking generic ones here too, haven't had the first visit yet though...we'll see.

Buckles&Chains replied: I compared the prenatal and the multi-vitamins... and the multi-vitamins have more vitamins in and higher quantities, and they're cheaper!
But that's in Aus not US, so I'm taking multi-vitamin and folic acid.

MyBabeMaddie replied: I'm on Citracal - I like them because they are vanilla flavored. My insurance covers my prenatals is that not normal?

PrairieMom replied: mine were covered, but I started taking them before I talked to my Dr. and he said what I was doing was fine.
I took perscription pernatals with The Boy

coasterqueen replied:
I think it's normal. Insurance covers mine too but I still have to pay $20 for them.

jem0622 replied: Wal-Mart brand is what I took, plus a host of other vitamins on top of that. Felt like I swallowed a medicine cabinet every night! blink.gif

EvesMom replied: I took vitafol while I was preg. Now I'm taking otc prenatals. As per my brother (the MD) the only difference between the expensive versus the generic or OTC is with absorption. The prescription ones are more easily absorbed by the body than the cheaper over the counter forms. If you have a well balanced diet, there is really do need to spend a lot of money on prescription vitamins. The OTC ones ar enough.

EvesMom replied:
Just because it has more, doesn't mean it's better. Remember, some vitamins can be toxic in high levels. Prenatal viatamins are formulated for the pregnant and lactating.

Mommy2Isabella replied: I LOVE THE MILITARY. My insurance PAYS FOR EVERYTHING! LOL ... But, I am taking, Prenatal ONE ... the supposedly help with M/S and using the BATHROOM if you know what I mean ...

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: when I remember to take them and they stay down I am taking Natures Made. My dr. said they are all fine so what ever. W/ katy they tried me on all the prescription ones hopeing there would be one that didn't make me sick but no luck.

paradisemommy replied: costco brand...only like $12.99 for a HUGE bottle..that's what i've been taking for the past almost 4 years..smile.gif

Boys r us replied: I took the target brand at first and my dr said they were fine, but he gave me a prescription for Prenate.

NEWMOM05 replied: I took and am still taking Vitasmart. I got them at K-Mart.They were approved by my ob nd everything. Good Luck!!! Congrats to all the soon to me mommies!!! baby.gif

holley79 replied: I was given a perscription by my OB. She said it was higher in folic acid then over the counter.
