Prenatal Vitamins
Boo&BugsMom wrote: Anyone take their prenatal vitamins over the counter? I had to with my son because the others made me sick. The brand I used I can not find anywhere anymore. Can anyone suggest a good brand over the counter to use, or maybe a brand from the doctor that worked well for you?
boyohboyohboy replied: HI! I took two seperate over the counter prenatal vits. I get the one at walmart...and the other at rite aide, just what ever their brand was..I forget the name, but it was fine, I had to have some levels checked once for a health reason and they were all where they were supposed to be, so the vits were good.
It sure is cheaper.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I took the Stuart brand prenatals with Wil and found that Albertsons makes a generic that is comparable to the Stuarts, so that's what I take now. Stuarts are like $30 a bottle. Generic is maybe $6 and look exactly the same!!
MyLuvBugs replied: Are you trying to tell us something!
With Lorelei I used the Dr. Murphy's Prenatal Vitamins - they're over the counter but I think you have to get them at a health food store. This time I'm taking the Melaleuca ones.
TheOaf66 replied: Melelucua my mom tried to get us to sell that stuff for the longest time, bad memories of that stuff
loveucrazy replied: Hmm, I took my vitamins for about a month, but they always made me throw up so I stopped taking them, and i had an 8lb baby just as healthy as can be. If I would have taken them I would have burst I am so tiny!
MyLuvBugs replied: The products are actually really awesome and all natural which I love. But the selling and marketing of the company isn't for everyone. The vitamins have actually helped me with a lot of problems I was having before (Skin probs, dizziness, fatigue, etc.), so I'm sticking with them. And the prenatals are only $14.99, so they're cheaper than the ones I took when I was PG with lorelei. Right now that's a big bonus for us. lol
TheOaf66 replied: I never had a problem with the products but she would just go on and on about how we could make so much money and she wanted me to push it on all my friends and such and I was just like "Mom, let it go" it was just not for me.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Prenatals made me sick....so I took two Flinston chewable vitamins
PrairieMom replied: I used the Walmart brand ones. I never had a problem with getting sick on them.
CantWait replied: I took Materna with both my pregnancies, and I was fine.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Not YET
Thanks everyone for your advice. I think I will check out Walmart to see what I can find, and look into those other ones too. I hate to get a prescription because they can be so pricy, plus the others all just made me ill when I was prego with the boy. Thanks a bunch!
Cece00 replied: The prescription ones make me sick....so I take regular vitamins...well, when I remember I eat very well, though, and my OB said it was fine. I've also done this with my last 3 babies, and I've had extremely healthy babies...probably b/c of the way I eat...
luvmykids replied: I took something generic, don't remember the name. But I found taking them at night helped, that way I slept through most of the unpleasantness.
