Pre-school
MommyToAshley wrote: Just wondering how many are sending their kids to pre-k at age 3?
I decided to enroll Ashley. She is so excited, it's all that she talks about!!
ammommy replied: Alec will be closer to 4 because of where his bday is, but I'm sending him. I've seen a great change in him just from going to the Mom's Day out program this past year, so it should be great for him.
Jamison'smama replied: Yes, Jamison is enrolled but the potty teaching is going slowly--she is running around in Nemo panties and nothing else as we speak!
stanleygirl replied: I'm not sure if I'll send Kieran or not. I hope to have a home daycare up and running by the time he would start and so I think it would be nice for him to be with us, but if for some reason it's not going by then, then I will enroll him. (In the daycare I plan to set it up a bit like a preschool and have daily lessons about an animal or place, or something along those lines, so he would still be learning)
booey2 replied: Hi, Thomas is actually starting Junior Kindergarten this September and he will be 4 at the end of November. His babysitter already does a lot of preschool work with him to get him ready and he has really changed a lot in the last couple of weeks so we know he will be ready.
DansMom replied: Daniel will be the youngest in his group (born 6 days before the cutoff date, which in Ann Arbor is December 1). I'm looking forward to seeing how he will fit in with the other kids. He seems to do fine with many ages and is developing apace with his verbal skills. This is a coop preschool, so George and I will be very involved with his experience, and it's only 2 mornings a week.
b&bsmom replied: I am a former day care teacher and I watch children in my home. I sent my daughter who is now 6 when she was 3 and I sent my son this past year at age 2. They both needed to learn how to be away from mommy. My son has a hard time going into babysitting at church or the gym so it was good for him to go to the 2yr old class which is why I sent him. It was only and hour and half two days a week. I do lessons and songs and crafts at home with the other kids and he knows how to play with other kids but not without mommy it was good for him. My daughter was very shy so it was good for her to get out and make some new friends. I think it all depends on the child.
kit_kats_mom replied: Nope. K's daycare lady was a preschool teacher before she had kids. She has lesson plans, age appropriate activities for all the kids (ages 2 1/2-4) and Katherine has done very well there. She's learned her letters, letter sounds, colors, shapes etc. She gets lots of socializing since they all get together with another ladies home care kids at least once a week and the cost is no more than what I would spend to send her to preschool. I also plan to take Lauren there next year and I think the girls will do well together.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Well since Kait will be 3 in December the answser is no. She will be more towars 4 if and when I send her so I have another year to worry about finding one I like and is convient to work and the sitter. I have no idea where to start.
Josie83 replied: I think that sounds like the nursery that we send Cassie to here. She was a bit unsure at first (and doesn't like it if she's been away from nursery for a while) but I would say that she absolutely loves it now! Sometimes on a weekend she's disappointed if she can't go She's benefited from it so much intellectually, emotionally and socially xx
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I voted yes because I would, but the cut off is right after Katy's birthday so she will be almost 4
Sunflower04 replied: Joey has been in daycare and we always refer to it as school because they learn so much. So Joey already has his spot for sept.
ediep replied: Jason is actually starting next week AAAAAHHHHH!!!! i am soooooo nervous!!! I signed him up for the 3 year old preschool program at my church, and the teacher told me that they have a summer program too. So he is starting on July 6. It is 2 mornings a week from 9-11:30am
Insanemomof3 replied: I am going to enroll Tristan. The only thing that worries me though is he is still not potty trained. He is showing more interest, but not out of the diapers yet.
mommy_me_me replied: I decided to wait until Mandie was 4 - she is enrolled and starts in the fall, however, next year when Kaleb is 3, I will probably go ahead and send him.
mommyangie replied: I am planning on my daughter going in the Fall but not decided yet. She isn't potty trained. They will take her as long as she is in pull-ups and said they don't mind changing them still at this age, so we will wait a couple more months and see.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I will probably wait until Wil is 4 since I've heard boys take longer to PT, plus his birthday is the last day in August.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: BTW, Lisa, when is the cut off here? I'm assuming Sept 1st, but maybe I'm thinking Kindergarten. That's why I'm waiting until Wil is 5 for that.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: the cut off in our district is Sept. 15 (hows that for messing w/ parents...move 5 minutes away within the same city and be in a different district w/ different cutoffs) the preschool Katy will probably go to is at the elementary school so they use the same dates.
PrairieMom replied: The boy is already in pre-pre-school for kids that need socialization. (and mommies that need a break ) he will go to pre-school as soon as he is potty trained. so, um... never. Hopefully by next year.
ilovemybaby replied: Yeah Abby is starting when she is 2 yrs and 8/9 months. She turns 3 in May 2007 so she will start in January/February... whenever it is they start. I am so glad that she doesn't have to be potty trained for daycare because it would be hard to have it done by then...
