Post Baby Tummy Rolls.... - How do I get rid of them??
wahm05 wrote: DD turned 1 this month and I still have that wonderfull roll of extra skin on my tummy when I lean over. I can suck it in when I'm standing so it's almost flat but leaning over there's no hope. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of it?
My3LilMonkeys replied: If anyone does I'd like to hear it too!
amynicole21 replied: You can still suck it in? I'm so jealous I could suck it in after my first, but now there is no hope. I suppose sit ups would do the trick, but I HATE SIT UPS!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I've been working on my abs for the past couple of months and I'm noticing an improvement. The flab isn't noticeable when I'm standing or sitting, but it is when I lay on my side or lean over. I don't know if it is extra skin or fat. If it is skin...will it go away by strengthening the abs and can you get your elasticity back? Or will it forever be flabby? I guess I have the same question as you. I will keep doing my ab exercises at the gym and lots of cardio. Hopefully in time (by next summer at least) I will be able to tell a huge difference and have a flat stomach. I used to hate crunches, but I love them now that my abs are stronger and I can actually do them.
MyLuvBugs replied: My kid is almost 11 months and I still have a little bit of roll. It doesn't go away quick so don't think it will. It will just depress you. Mine's finally starting to flatten out b/c of pilates and work-out on our exercise ball. But the first 3 months I couldn't work out much b/c of bleeding and a weird pain I had down there. Long story.
MommyToAshley replied: Me too, I am jealous. It's been three years since my DD was born, and I still have the rollls. I had been thin all my life until I became PG and gained almost 80 lbs. I just can't seem to get motivated or find the time to work out like I should. I agree that situps would probably do the trick... but the trick is to do them.
PrairieMom replied: I call it my Frontal-butt. I think it is going to be there forever. I decided that the only way to firm it up would be to get pregnant again soo....
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I call it a sign that we're all really mommys! We all have the bulge right? I do agree that cardio and crunches will help. Also, have you ever tried the Bosu ball?? It's like one of those large exercise balls, but cut in half and has a flat board on the end. My kickboxing instructor would make us do a lot of core strengthening with the Bosu's. Balancing on them helps and doing hovers too. Sorry it's hard to explain, but maybe ask around at your gym.
MyLuvBugs replied: Ya know what I've been doing lately that seems to be working, and working quickly. It's the greatest. We have this exercise ball, and I lay on my back on the floor, raise my legs in the air, and put the ball between my legs (between my ankles and knees). I squeeze my legs together tight, and flex my feet up. Then I put my hands under my butt, and raise my head up and tuck my chin to my chest. Then I LOWER my legs and raise them again. I do 10 of those a day and WOW, my rolls are disappearing. It's Awesome!!!
Regina replied: This sounds good. How much do exercize balls cost and what kind of shops would sell them? Thanks.
Although it's only been 6 weeks, I am also very sick of the rolls and overall fat. I gained sooo much weight with my pregnancy. My son was born at 9lbs, although from the weight gain, I was nearly positive there was a huge beast in there! I am almost in good enough condition to start excersizing so I have been looking for some tips.
I plan on taking Giovanni out in his stroller and going for a 20 minute walk, 5 times per week or so (weather permitting) and I expect this will help with shedding some pounds overall, but I am not sure it will help at all with my stomach rolls so I am interested in this topic and seeing people's solutions and advice!
MyLuvBugs replied: We got ours at Target for $20.00, but my DH says that he found some online for around $10.00 at a sports site someplace. I completely understand when it comes to having a big baby but yet having gained enough for two or three babies. But you need to make sure it's ok to start exercising with your Dr. I couldn't exercise until about 10 weeks b/c I had so many complications I guess. But this exercise WORKS, and you'll feel the difference quickly. Good Luck.
Regina replied: Thanks for the advice! I definitely will check with my doctor first, I have my check-up next Wednesday. I got pretty roughed up during the birth, so I don't want to do anything too soon without the doc's consent.
I will check out the prices @ Target, thanks again!
luvbug00 replied: make sure to suck in when doing all crunches and stuff I learned recently if you don't suck in all toneing you do will work on the wrong muscles and will make the pooch look bigger!!
ps. I'm jumping on the diet train!!!
ammommy replied: If you get a ball, make sure it's the right size for your height. The height ranges should be listed on the boxes. I learned that one the hard way.
luvbug00 replied: .
off to the childrens exercise equpment I go....
ammommy replied: They do make them for people as short as 4'6". That's the one I have (up to 5'2") and I'm nearly 5'9". Oops....
sydsmomm replied: Hey Christina, My rolls went away a lot faster after the first baby! My second is 8 months old and I do not have a roll, but I still have a "pooch". I have been doing crunches on my exercise ball. They come in a variety of sizes depending on how tall you are. You can search the web for a variety of exercised to do with the ball so you won't get too bored doing the same thing all the time. Nursing also burns a substantial amount of calories! =)
