Possible Premature Labor....
MyLuvBugs wrote: UGH!! So we just got home from the Midwife, and she's a little nervous about the "Braxton Hicks" that I've been having. From what I described to her, she said they sound like actual contractions. So, I had to have a bunch of tests today including an interal exam. Cervix is still "sorta" closed (said the midwife), she said it feels long, but is soft which makes her a little more uneasy. She's testing for some sort of infection and mucus that protects the amniotic sack? She gave it a name, but I forgot to write it down so now it's left my brain. But she said that if the mucus stuff is present or I come back with an infection she's going to put me on bedrest through the weekend until she can get me into see a DR next week. Apparently this mucus stuff means possible premature labor, and combined with these contractions.....
I'm trying to remain calm and think positive, but I'm totally freaking out on the inside.
She said the baby is pretty low, but that I'm still early so she could still move on up. But she was happy with the weight I've gained and the size I am. lol So, right now we're just sitting here waiting for them to call with the results. Should be a couple more hours. Only tests I've ever wanted to not be positive.
mammag replied: I hope the tests go fine. Try not to stress out as much as you can....I know it's hard.
Lots of P&PT's for you!
coasterqueen replied: Hang in there and take it easy. Babies can be low, then move up, etc. - that's completely normal so the fact that the baby is low isn't something to be too concerned about.
Let us know how things go.
lisar replied: Try and take a break. Lay down and let DH do the housework and cleaning and stuff. It might make you feel better. I hope everything comes out okay for you.
PrairieMom replied: Boy have I BTDT! Eveything will be fine. Don't get stressed out. It will only make things worse. Maybe you can get terbutaline too! Its awesome stuff, makes you feel like you've had 3 cups of coffee! Hang in there!
ashtonsmama replied: Good luck hun--hope it all works out! KUP!
luvmykids replied: I can't think of the name but had to be checked for the mucous stuff too but ended up going all the way. Try to relax, body and mind! And KUP!
MyLuvBugs replied: Just what I need, to be more hyper than I already am. lol I'm sure DH would just LOVE it.
Anyway, the name is Fetal Fibronectin test? And according to the midwife my test results would have been back in 3-4 hours, but according to the stuff online it takes 6-36 hours to get the results back. I guess I'll just go to my parents place since DH is leaving for phoenix, and wait to hear there. I'll definately keep you all posted. But I won't be able to post anything until Sunday night or Monday morning.
ashtonsmama replied: OK-we'll miss ya but KUP and we're praying for you Erika.
A&A'smommy replied: Let us know when you can sweetie take it easy I will keep you in my P&PT'S!!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: keep us posted Erika. Good luck!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Erika, you and baby should be okay. I'm sure your doc will know what to do...whether it's putting you on meds or bedrest. Just relax and try and not worry too much...because yes, stress can actually bring on BHs IMO. Keep us posted sweetie!

CantWait replied: Try and Relax, update when you can.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Let's us know what's going on soon! I hope you and babygirl are both okay. I hope she stays put for several more weeks!
flirtycuddle replied: What the fetal fiber nectin test does is show if you are at risk for pre-term labor. If it comes back negative you are safe for 2 weeks. I started having to have the tests every 2 weeks but now that I am 35 and some on days I dont get the test. Also the terbultine is great at stoping contractions. I was efaced for 2 months before being induced with my daughter so dont worry to much
