Poor Charlie.
PrairieMom wrote: Well, if you have been following me on FB, you know that I have been having issues with Charile spitting up and being so crabby. He has been spitting tons. At this point we don't use burp cloths, we use a regular bath towel instead. Our carpet have taken a real hit from spit up hitting the floor. We go through at least 3 outfits ( for ME LOL) a day. So I took him in for a weight check. At 7 weeks he is 9 pounds 6 ounces. he was 7 14 when he was born. Tiny guy. so they want to check him for reflux. He will have an upper GI tomorrow afternoon. Poor bug. Hopefully we will figure something out.

A&A'smommy replied: bless his heart!!! I hope they figure something out for him!!
Danalana replied: So sorry, Tara! Poor Charlie I hope they get it figured out soon!
amymom replied: Tara, as you may know I went through this with Mary Beth. I hope all goes well with your visit today. You know better than I the value of a specialist, I would totally recommend seeing the pediatric GI. Even though the pediatrician can do all the same tests, the second set of trained eyes makes a huge difference. I regret not going to the pediatric GI with Mary when she was an infant.
You have some great advice, I can only repeat the same things you keep hearing. One of the best things was the sling we used while she was sleeping. I cant recall the name but it was something like "Chalazian sling" I will google later today and see if I can get the name and procdure for you.
Good luck with all your testing today, I hope it is nothing serious and that you find a remedy.

PrairieMom replied: well, we took him in for his upper GI, and everything looks OK, just a tiny bit of reflux. of course afterwards, when I was done nursing him and the Dr had left he yacked up about a gallon of BM. like, at least 2 ounces, it filled up my cupped hand and ran out onto the floor. What ever. Hopefully I will be able to get him his meds today and it will be enough to help him out. He is so miserable this morning, screaming and crying.
luvbug00 replied: poor baby! i hope the meds help..keep us posted!
coasterqueen replied: I agree on the pediatric GI doc. I'd never ever take Megan anywhere for those tests but a pedi GI doc. They see this day in and day out and they were the only ones I ever trusted to deal with Megan's issues. Her pedi GI is the only one to find out that she was lactase deficient as well.
Also, one thing my pedi gi doc literally showed us is what YOU think is a ton of milk being puked up by your baby really isn't a lot of milk actually being puked up. It appears that way to you, it did to me, but in reality it really ISN'T. Megan puked buckets and buckets and buckets of breastmilk -- she poltergeist projectile vomited 24/7. She would do this in her sleep, which in turn meant I never got to sleep because I was afraid she'd choke to death on it - hence the reason we got the amby bed for her and her reflux issues (best purchase ever, btw, lol).
I am REALLY surprised your ped did not send you to a specialist. Hopefully the meds help him. Megan absolutely hated them, they didn't really help either. Of course we learned later that it was probably the lactase genetic deficiency causing a lot of her issues.
PrairieMom replied: We have yet to see our ACTUAL ped.:rolleyes:she is really hard to get into. So far we have seen 3 of her partners, and none of them more than once. I just got off the phone with her office, and the meds are straightened out. as soon as they can get it mixed up, I can have it. What a joke that it took 2 days to get it. I am hoping that this little thing does the trick. If not, I have another Ped appt on 7-2, with our actual Dr. I have high hopes tho.
