Plugged duct....
MomToMany wrote: I don't know how this happened, but I got a plugged duct. This is the first time I've had one. I'm really working on getting it cleared up. I don't see the little white "pimple" on my nipple to "pop" it open though. It's on my left breast right in the middle, and is sore all the way down to the nipple.
I will be taking a nice hot shower here shortly; Kayla woke up early so I have to wait til Logan can watch her.
I hope this doesn't last long. It hurts .
gr33n3y3z replied: I used to get those and My Dr told me to put very warm almost hot wet wash rag on it 4 times a day and it worked great
MommyToAshley replied: Ouch.... hope the hot shower helps!
DansMom replied: Uggh, I had those several times. It's too bad you can't see it to drain it. I hope the hot shower works! They are so painful when things get backed up.
moped replied: I have heard cabbage....it is in the "what to expect the first year book"
MomToMany replied: It's getting a little bit better. I've also been putting the hot washcloth on it a few times already. Plus, I'm having one of the girls nurse on that side about every 1-1.5 hours.
5littleladies replied: I've had plugged ducts once or twice and all I can say is "OUCH!". I've never been able to drain them-just had to relieve the pain as best as I could. It sounds like you are doing everything you could be to get rid of it-I hope it clears up quickly!
coasterqueen replied: Awww Mollie, I'm so sorry you have an ouchie. I hate plugs!
Just keep nursing like you are doing, warm showers massaging the area all that will help. I used to dangle feed to get the plugs to go away and that's what Paula on the IV BF board used to recommend but they don't anymore..I can't remember why but I would still try it. Couldn't hurt.
Oh and make sure you have the girls mouth/nose pointed towards the plug . I'm sure you already knew that though. Hee hee.
Josie83 replied: Ugh, painful. I hope the treatments are working and you're not in so much pain! xx

all i can say is ooooooowwwwwiiiieeeeeeeee...hope it clears up for you soon - NO FUN..
MomToMany replied: Yay, it's gone !! When I would feed Kayla on that side with the plug, she'd get frustrated. So, I let Hannah nurse on there before bed, and that's when I could tell it broke through. She started gulping and sputtering and said, "Too much milk, Mommy!". And this morning, Kayla nursed like a champ on that side, full of gulping!
There's no pain anymore, and it feels normal again. No more bumps or lumps.
Thank you ladies for all the advice! Thank you Tammy, I think it heard your vibes!!!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Glad to hear it's all cleared up now! I know how painful those are!
Josie83 replied: Thanks for keeing us updated . . . I'm glad its gone! xx
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Sorry I'm just seeing this! I'm glad you are feeling better!! I never had a plugged duct.
MommieMel replied: I hope its not too painful...best wishes.
