Plastic Surgery - yes or no?
mckayleesmom wrote: Ok,,today I was watching Oprah and it was about a show called extreme makeovers. Would you have plastic surgery if you could? and what would you have done? I personally would. I would like to have my double chin removed.. I get it from my dads side of the family. It doesn't matter how much you weigh,,,its there. I hate it. I also have one eye that is a tad lower then the other, but I don't know if I would want anything done about that cause I don't know if I would want them around my eyes. And Im already planning to have my breast reduced, I just want to lose weight first cause I know they will want me to before anyways. Oh and I would also like to remove the fat from my inner thighs...That pesky little bit of fat that makes your shorts ride up when you walk....man I hate that...
amynicole21 replied: OOOohhh, I think about this a lot! I'd love to have liposuction and a tummy tuck. I could also probably use some work on my chin... I've always hated it. I think I'd be too scared to go through with it, but it's fun to think about!
mckayleesmom replied: I could go through with it,,,just can't afford it...need more $$$$
aspenblue1 replied: I would probably have some liposuctions and a tummy tuck. I couldn't do the face lift since I saw it done on tv.
supermom replied: liposuction, definately - there isn't any other way to get rid of those fat cells, for sure. But first gotta get rid of this baby and weight.....LOL!!
mckayleesmom replied: I would also like to add that I would love my stratch marks on my stomach removed. Especially the one that blended in with my belly button piercing scar to form the playboy bunny.
Heather replied: I am planning on getting bigger boobs when I am done with children. They look really horrible right now and they are so small. It seems Alison sucked the life out of them...so I think I will treat myself in a few years!! One thing that really isnt' plastic surgery but I would like to have done is get braces.
mckayleesmom replied: ooohhh I would love braces too and someday will get them cause I have a gap in between my teeth...I need to make a dentist appointment to also have some feelings redone and stuff butI have to wait till I can afford to be put to sleep cause the smell of dentist offices makes me have really bad anxiety attacks. When I was younger the shots were only 100 dollars,,now they are like 400. Is anyone else petrified of the dentist like me and if so have they tried the laughing gas stuff on you and did it work. I am completely afraid of them. I use to love the dentist when I was little and then I had a bad experience with a new dentist when I was 12 and ever since then, its a horrible phobia for me.
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh I hate dentist also! The sounds are horrible! when I was a kid the hygentist that cleaned my teeth would pike my gumes and told me if I brushed better they would not bleed! Huh what you stupid woman let me poke yours and see what happens! Also the novican makes me sick, one reason I can not use orijel. I have to have the gas before the novicane or I will . I finally got one tooth fixed last year and I have a few fillings that need to be done but I hate going and now I just dont have time, with working and Kaitlin.
MamaMartie replied: No way I am a big chicken when it comes to surgery. I'll live with what I've got thanks. lol
That said I will probably have lasix surgery done to my eyes some day. Not b/c I mind wereing glasses, but b/c I have really bad eye sight and I'd like a chance at seeing better. It gets worse every year & I don't intend to go blind if there is a cure. I am so used to glasses thought that I'd probably wear one w/o plastic non-corrective lenses b/c I'd feel weird w/o them.
But as for my boobs, fat, & the rest they are mine to keep.

MomToMany replied: Anyone see that show "Nip/tuck" on FX? I've only seen previews for it, and no thanks!! That show looks freaky!! I'd like to have a breast reduction after the kids are done nursing, and maybe a tummy tuck with some liposuction, but I would chicken out because of the surgery. I'm a wimp. So, I'll just have to live with all my extra "padding" !
Kaitlin'smom replied: ya I dont think I could ever do it, its not the surgery that bothers me its the recovery! About the only thing I would like to have done is the lasik I am tired of wering glasses and would like to be able to see with out them!
mckayleesmom replied: I would do it in a heartbeat if it was free.. ....I wouldn't let them go near my eyes with anything though. That freaks me out, even lasics surgery,,,,no way,,,Ill wear glasses thanks.
dolfinrse replied: I had a breast reduction done a few years ago. It was the best decision I ever made. The recovery was not bad at all. I was back to work in less than one month. If I had to, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I would not have the lasik surgery done, only because if they mess something up, it's your eyes. I looked into having it done, but there were too many complications. I'd rather pay the $ for contacts then be blind for the rest of my life.
Mommieto2Girls replied: I would want a boob lift, and a tummy tuck. I could deal with everything else. I couldn't let them touch my eyes either. The thought of going blind just isn't worth it.
grandpa2003 replied: When you get to be 'old', as the sign in the plastic surgeon's office says, "Gravity Wins!". At my age, my hair no longer grows on the top of my head but insists in emerging from my nose and ears.
Actually I now have no desire for plastic surgery even though my belly sags.
I DID have what one could call 'cosmetic' surgery in my late teens when with my Mom's strong encouragement, I had a circumcision. (Actually it was performed by a friend of my Mom's - a plastic surgeon!) I was very nervous, embarrassed and found it rather unpleasant at the time. It was, however, very useful in eliminating the tightness and discomfort which my long, tight foreskin caused. Needless to say that was ever so many years ago now and my only regret is that I was not done as a baby. Maybe, in my case it was not truly cosmetic surgery.
Best wishes to all of you as you contemplate difficult decisions for social reasons.

DansMom replied: If I can go through life without ever going under general anaesthesia I'll be a happy woman. I'm absolutely phobic that they'll put me under and I won't come back. I am generally phobic about things being administered improperly, wrong dosage, hit a major nerve and paralyze my face, etc., probably because I worked at a hospital for a number of years. I had Daniel without epidural or medications partly because I am phobic about the competence of medical personnel.
The area that I'm least happy with is the pouchiness under my eyes, which adds years to my appearance. Because I don't have high cheekbones, I've had this pouchiness since I was in my teens, but it's worse now that I'm in my late thirties. But I'd rather try to get more rest and drink lots of fluids and use makeup to minimize this effect.
coasterqueen replied: I am way too chicken to get anything done, especially with all the horror stories I hear and with my luck I would probably be that next horror story.
But it is fun to think about. I would want a boob lift after I have another one, some fat sucked out of my cheeks, lol, lipo on the thighs, a little of something to make my butt skinnier and a little lift of it as well, uhhhh, tummy tuck or at least get rid of the stretch marks, and okay I think that's it. One thing I hate about myself that I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of and I hope and pray Kylie doesn't have to deal with them IS moles. I have tons of them, not raised ones, one or two of those, but the rest are just flat. I seem to keep getting more of them. I HATE THEM!!!! I would LOVE my body if I could just get rid of them!
victoire2002 replied: Well, I used to say "NO WAY", but as time goes on, the more I contemplate it!! We have hereditary dark circles under our eyes in our family, and I certainly have them. I think Aidan's gonna have them, too!!
I also would get a tummy tuck. Other than my tummy, I like my body. I always had a "pooch", even prior to pregnancy. I could usually control it with a lot of exercise, but these days I am lucky to get in 1-2 workouts a week!!
As far as my face goes, I am considering a chemical peel already because I had bad acne as a teen (and STILL have some!!) and want to smooth out that skin. Maybe a face lift, but I am a bit scared of those too, as I have *heard* everything about the procedure.
