Pimples - and Weight Loss
CAMSMOM1 wrote: Ok, so I still get breakouts. They aren't as bad as they used to be, but around my AF, I get a few.
My question is, I have a lot of scars on my face, back and and shoulders. I'm going to be in my best friend's wedding, and we are wearing strapless dresses. I'm not happy about that. We are wearing shawls, so it'll help cover it up a little.
My sister suggessted that I start tanning, that it'll help even out my skin tone, and cover up my acne scars.
Have you tried this? Anything else I can do, or any products, that helps with scarring?
The wedding's in May, so I have sometime.
2nd QUESTION: What's a fast & healthy way to lose weight in 3 months? Any tips or work out regimends, or diets that work quickly? I not only want to fit in my bridesmaid dress, but look good in it.
Thanks in advance!
luvmykids replied: I have the same problem with pimples, tanning would probably help and on the big day could you have someone do some "touch up" make up?
I don't know about the other part, but I'm sure someone else will. How much are you wanting to lose?
CAMSMOM1 replied: I would like to lose as much as possible! I just know I need to start now, and stop making excuses, and just do it.
I have Tae Bo BootCamp, I heard that works pretty good....I've had it for 6 months and never tried it.
I used to be on Weight Watchers, and that worked really well. That was when they had the "count your points" system, I heard they changed it now.
I like Curves, but I don't have a babysitter to watch Cameron for me. Not until April 1st, when he starts his new daycare.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Well any quick fix wieght loss regimen diet will only be bad news in the long run, not only because your body will realize that food is not going in like it used to, but you will likely not be rec'g all the goodness (vitamins and other nutrition) that your body needs on a daily basis. You may lose the weight- but when you resume normal eating habits your body will readjust and start to hoard the increase in food as extra weight. Make sense? Like if you were to starve yourself from this day on, your body will eventually give up the weight. But when you go back to even light eating your body will not recognize that, and it may pack some weight on for reserves in case you decide to starve yourself again.
There are quick diets out there. I would not reccommend anything like that- at all. More harm than good. Take an inventory of what you consume daily, and be honest with yourself. And get those things out of your life. If carbos are a big hit with you, and carbos that are not used turns into sugar which goes and deposits itself as fat in areas we wish to rid of extra fat. Then move those on out.
Bottom line: take stock of what you are consuming, if it is not in your best interest now, or in the future move it aside, and replace it with something better. Basically, avoid the fad diets/diet pills & go with a lifestyle change. . Stay committed, eventually the payoff with be there, and you will be proud. Get actvie if you are not already, and stay focused. Also, I would not focus entirely on the wedding in May, I would set short term goals and acheive them first. Take baby steps.
I go through spurts where I revise my eating habits, but I also lag and drag my feet. I only said the above things, because I am there now.
GOOD LUCK!!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: There's not much you can do about scars except talk to a dermatologist about a fading cream. I wouldn't tan personally, because it just makes skin worse in the long run IMO - I think it actually darkens the pigment of scars. But I guess it would hide it for at least the wedding (depends whether you want short term or long term results). I would probably choose a self tanner or go with the Mystic Tan so that you don't make the problem worse. Believe me, I have awful skin and used to tan a lot in college. I think a lot of the damage is more from tanning than acne though, so just be careful.
As far as weight loss, 3 months really isn't enough time for dramatic results. But you can definitely tone up which will help take off a few inches around the hips and belly, making your dress fit better. And just watch your refined sugar and processed food intake. Drink lots of water of course.
Mom2BNTN replied: Hey Ann!
I would try tanning to see if you are able to acheive the look you are going for. I hope it works for you. Let us know!!
As far as weight loss goes....have you ever tried the Dolly Parton Diet? Everyone in my family that goes on it always seems to lose weight.
Dolly Parton Soup
4-6 large onions 2 green peppers 1 large can whole tomatoes 1 large cabbage 1 large bunch celery 1 or 2 pkg. onion soup mix (depends on your taste)
Boil hard for 10 minutes, then simmer until tender. Salt and pepper to taste.
They say if you eat this and only this until every bite is gone you will lose weight.
Good luck with whatever weight loss plan you try.
Kaitlin'smom replied: tanning can help clear up your skin, but it might not help with the scaring. Try some self tanners or mystic tan.
as for a big weight loss I would talk to your doctor and see what they suggest to help. Deffinalty take note of what your eating and when, drink more water. You can get weight off but you need to be committed now and to do it saftly only a doctor can help, maybe even a nutritionist.
widgetX12 replied: I like the Mystic Tan idea.
luvmykids replied: My best friend does this all the time, but it's called the Cabbage Soup Diet and you do eat other stuff but only certain things on certain days.
That soup is pretty tasty, I make it sometimes just because I like it. If you want the full diet I can get it from her.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: lol
my version in called the Sacred Heart Medical Diet.
And although it works - the purpose o it is for overweight heart patients that need to lose a little before surgery. It's MAINLY A LOSS FOR WATERWEIGHT, NOT FAT and it will be short term.
So it really won't help, sorry. Really.
You're better off sweating it off, as of now. Force yourself. You could lose a good 15 to 20 pounds if you combine good eating with excersise and lots of water. good luck... I'm hoping to lose just as much in the same amount of time.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: I have had acne all my life and have tried everything cause even at 26 people can be rude about it! Like I don't try its just something that they only thing that works causes serious birth defects and well I would rather be a mother to a healthy kid with acne then clean skin and no kids or severly deformed children. Never on my back always jsut my face. Tanning works wonders for me. It clears my skin up and evens out the scarred spots. I have done both sun and sunless. Both work the same! I like the sunless for quick fixes like a weekend outing not a vacation or whatever. Two applications over two or three days done nice flawless tan your out the door. I love it and it works for me
As for losing weight in three months I would just start something like pilates or tae bo. Something you can do 3-4 times a week at home while baby is sleeping and be done with it. You may not loose tons of weight but you will be healthier and happier. Most likely if you lose weight on it and feel good you will stick with it and it will be a permanent change not a temporary one
CantWait replied: When you do your cadio workout, don't do it all at one pace, go normal for a minute, then go really fast at whatever you're doing for a minute to the point where you almost can't breath and can't speak. Continuing doing that for about half an hour. This is a GREAT workout.
ToriTrouble replied: I think the tanning would help the appearance of the scars a lot.
I lost 50 lbs on WW last year! I was 230 when I had Tori, then 217 when I started WW and now I am about 167. It works........
CAMSMOM1 replied: Thanks for all the great tips and advice!
I don't think I could do the soup diet, I would give up in about a day!
I think I'm going to try Weight Watchers again, and do my Tae Bo tapes. I know I shouldn't focus on the wedding, as the only reason to lose the weight. I know I need to do it, regardless. But, there are going to be so many friends that I havne't seen since High School (when I was thin) and I just wanted to feel more confident. And then with a strapless dress & scars, man..it's not a good combination!
I just feel like I have sooooo much weight to lose. But like you guys said, just take it one day at a time.
How long did it take you guys to lose your weight and reach your goal? And have you kept the weight off?
