Pets... - what do you have??

cameragirl21 replied: one absolutely gorgeous red headed Persian cat, i've also been caring for my parents' Siamese (who lives outside whereas my Persian is strictly indoor) for quite some time now while they travel, their Siamese brought home another Siamese (whose berries i really need to get snipped) and a mutt type cat that are strays but i feed them daily and they pretty much never leave my yard so i guess they're now mine.
Plus 3 turtles, a koi pond, and 2 saltwater ponds.

I love turtles. My parents have koi in there pond.. they are massive!! Also they have shebunkins(sp?) and goldfish too.

booey2 replied: We have a regular fish tank with tetras, gourami and alge eaters. We used to tell the kids dad is allergic to dogs so they wouldn't ask - but they know better now - he just doesn't like em, and I am truely allergic to cats.

ETA: That since dog sitting, I really want to get a big dog even more now. I have wanted one for protection, even though our current dog is good at scaring the beejeebies out of people who come to the door, I want one for protection that is big also.

Crystalina replied: Well, I have the 4 yorkies. People think with 4 dogs that's alot but really the kids take up more room and make bigger messes. Right now the yorkies all staring at me because they know I'm typing about them.
Dh has a couple of beagles that he uses for rabbit hunting. I'm not a beagle fan and neither are the yorkies. The beagles stay outside in their beagle house. We also have fish. We had regular old goldfish (thanks to our local fair and that way too easy to win game ). We only have one fair fish left and we now have koi in with him. The koi are so pretty but just as messy as regular old fairfish.

We do not have any pet rodents. We live out in the country so we have enough wild rodents to worry about. Last month we had a chipmunk in the house. I have no idea how it got in here but a yorkie caught it in the kitchen. And then there are the always present field mice which leads me to our 2 cats which are way too lazy to worry about the field mice. We only had one cat but dh went to visit his mom last summer and left our car window down. She lives in town and a cat jumped into the car and stowed away in the dash. He came home and told me the car was meowing so I investigated and there was a very tiny kitty stuck in there. After alot of coaxing and losing a piece of tuna behind the steering wheel (that smelled really good about 2 days later ) we added a new addition to the family...Smokey.

HuskerMom replied: I've got a mini dashchund named Zoe, a cat named Ruger and seven pirhanas. We had another dog but had to put him down last week. He was getting old and having seizures. His name was Dog and he was a retriever.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get a sheep so Colt can practice his sheep riding. And I really miss having cats but I don't think I could keep Bogie from eating it.

We have a saltwater fish tank with a Yellow Tang name Pig, a Cinnimon Clown Fish named Bobo and some pretty blue guy named Skeeter. My mom recently passed them off to us.

My dad is babysitting our 11 year old American Pit Bull Terrier-Staffordshire Bull Terrier indefinitely... I miss her!! But we have an upstairs apartment and she's too old to make her go up and down them daily. Plus this part of Milwaukee has a "vicious dog" ban, banning all Pit Bull breeds. Plus a "big dog" ban. But soon we'll be getting a pure bred Staffordshire Bull Terrier and they're technically NOT a Pit Bull breed and don't get much taller than 14 inches.

Sheep are fun.. I would buy them in pairs at least cause they are herd animals..but I will tell you they are hard to keep in a fence.. I mean worse than goats..lol And lord don't let them around your car...lol

What will they do to your car? I'm soooo dreading when the kids have to do goat tying, I HATE goats and I know we'll have to have one to practice with

A&A'smommy replied: we have 2 dogs one male long-haired chihuahua named dakota, and a female britney spaniel named daisy, and we have 1 female calico (most calicos are female) named paisley (its a name I found in a cat naming book at booksamillion LOL it has something to do with her coloring)

we just recently aquired our kitty she was dumped and when she first started coming around she was SOOO skinny and now she is getting fat I have to get her house fixed up I'm going to put a dog house up next to the house with the opening close to the house so if she gets chased she can get away and put something in it to keep her warm

My dad built this crazy dog house with a pitched roof, glass window, window box with flowers.....and the cat wouldn't let the dogs in It would be pouring rain and the dogs would be laying by the door to their house and every once in a while you'd see a kitty paw reach out and swipe them to remind them to stay out

We have a Shih-Tzu named Charlie, 1 real cat named Chicken, 1 stray cat that Will named Sammy, and 7 freshwater tanks (the biggest of which is only 20-gal).

ETA: I'll try to post a picture of Charlie.

DillsMommy replied: We have a frog. We had two, but their tank is in our bedroom and one of them (a tree frog) would always get out. We would find it in our bathroom or hopping around the bedroom. I hated that. One night it literally woke us up, it got out and was hopping on our bed right by my HEAD! So I said, that's it, and I let it free the next day while DH was at work. I felt so bad I had to tell him, he wasn't too happy about that.

I have been concidering a lionhead rabbit since last summer and I would adore a Yorkie! I had one when I was Tay's age and he was the best dog ever!

We also used to have like 4 fish but they died & we havent setup the tank again.

Honestly, I used to have 2 dogs but then I had 2 kids and I just didnt have time for the dogs.

I guess I like animals....WELL BEHAVED animals. I just dont LOVE them.

But my husband and my oldest son REALLY want a dog. I am not totally opposed to it except I know it would just turn into another chore for ME most of the time, and I think we would honestly disagree with the type of dog to get. I'm sure J would want a big dog, and I would want something medium sized.

And we both worry about an animal hurting any one of our kids...I think even family pets could hurt a child under certain circumstances and you just hear about animals hurting kids on the news a lot (big, scary dogs and family pets alike) and it scares the crap out of me...

So I think we'll wait for now.
