Pet Peeves - I got another one

mckayleesmom wrote: My next door neighbors teenage daughter...This girl is like 230lbs...her wieght is not my problem....its the clothes she wears with her wieght. Like today...she is wearing a pink strapless tank (halter top) and pants that belong on someone probably a size 9....it looks so disgusting. Doesn't she have friends or family that tell her the truth. I know that Im a big girl...Im a size 12 and my mom is so honest you want to slap her...she says....that doesn't flatter you. SOMEONE TELL THIS GIRL TO PUT SOME CLOTHES THAT FIT ON.

mckayleesmom replied: Also...she is a very beautiful girl...I just don't understand why she thinks she needs to dress like that.

guertin31 replied: maybe it makes her feel good? she might be really sad inside being over weight.

Just a thought...

kit_kats_mom replied: the poor thing. She probably has friends who are smaller who are wearing those type of clothes & they are in style. What teen would rather wear something flattering over something in style? I used to be that girl and it's really awful. To be honest, I wasn't able to shop in the Juniors section from about 15 on. I sure didn't want to wear the "old lady" clothes so I would squeeze my fat butt into size 13's but I promise, it wasn't pretty or comfortable. sad.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: She probably thinks she needs to dress like that because that's how most of the teenage girls dress now. My mother wouldn't have let me out of the house when I was a teen in anything too revealing or unflattering. (Unless you count the HUGE sweatshirts I wore as unflattering.) It seems like more and more, parents (in general) just don't pay as much attention to what their kids are wearing and doing. I can speak from personal knowledge, I see way too many 15 and 16 year olds in the Labor and Delivery rooms.

mommy_loves_chase replied: i have always been thin my whole life but not that im pg the tightest thing i wear is my uniform for the simpl fact im embaressed about my weight!! i see a lot of people who do that though i think it is a self confidence thing she wants people to look wheather it is good look or bad just my opinion

TANNER'S MOM replied: YOu know I have always said...

Nothing wrong w/ being a BIG girl.. which I am ..if you know how to dress.

They have lots of cute clothes..but sometimes money becomes an issue. You wanna wear what is stylish and cutesy I know..

I have a younger cousin 19 who weighed close to 300lbs lost down to 200 and for her that is skinny.....but...she wore halter tops to show off the new her...

Finally she realized that she could be Sexy.. in something more classy.. A low cut blouse in the front in black ..is way better than a Tank or halter..

But she had to find that out and find her sexy side...

redchief replied: Hmmm.

mckayleesmom replied: Shes about 17...shes a beautiful girl and really sweet...but when you have rolls hanging out of your shirt...I think its too small. I don't think money is an issue...because all her clothes look name brand and they are really cute clothes...they just are not her size. There are soo many cute clothes for bigger girls now...and girls with boobs (like me) that she could find tons of cute clothes.

luvbug00 replied: I've noticed that the clothes for the girls who arn't toothpicks are really getting to be cuter then all the smaller clothes. JMO coolsmiley.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I know...in Independence MO at the mall..they had a store for girls with bigger boobs......I was in heaven...except most of the shirts were really long and Im really short...so it kind of backfired on me.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My only gripe about having big boobs is that nothing from Victoria's Secret fits right. I guess that's her secret, you have to be a stick to wear anything. That's okay though, there is a specialty store in my town that carries lingerie in EVERY size. Even 6X.

TANNER'S MOM replied:
I can usually order from Fredericks''

No Victoria Secrets here eitherm except for panites..and I think they are way over pricy!

jacobsmama replied: My sister is overweight and she wheres clothes that are tighter or not so appealing but it is b/c she is comfortable with herself. She honestly doesn't care what other ppl think of her she is happy with herself. She knows she is overweight but she doesn't want to buy new clothes so that is another reason that she wears them. She doesn't want to have to buy a bigger size. I like you think she needs to cover it up it would look much better. I'm a bigger beautiful girl and proud of that. 170 is a good weight for me less than that look anorexic.

TANNER'S MOM replied:
rolling_smile.gif Me too girl!

I am very confident in my weight...it's my height that is lacking! rolling_smile.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
You ladies rock! I know I'm guilty of poking fun at what people wear sometimes, but I think it's great that you both are so comfortable with your bodies! Whether we're big or small...we all struggle. I have no boobs, so I can't buy in VS either! I'm going with no bra these days! rolling_smile.gif

JMO...If the girl is under age, then I do think it's her parents responsibility to teach her how to dress more appropriately. A young girl like her shouldn't be wearing sexy clothes whether she's a size 14 or a size 2. I love fashion, but sexy doesn't mean it's in style.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
I am not short. I am vertically challenged. redbounce.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: My SIL is the same way...only she is about 300+ lbs and wears like size 18 clothes. She SHOULD be wearing bigger clothes. It really grosses me out sometimes. I just don't have the heart to tell her she looks bad. blush.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: You know, my SIL dresses SO classy and she is about 300 pounds. She buys most everything from Lane Bryant's. They have really classy clothes that are in style. SIL always looks so well put together and clean.

Sexy is a frame of mind, IMO happy.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
My mother had a magnet that says my weight is perfect for my height which varies. LOL!!!! You just reminded me of it with your post.

I have always been on the bigger side, even when I am at the weight I should be. I have been battling it for the whole of my life so I have pretty much come to terms with it. This is just who I am. Being 5'7" I would be perfectly happy being 150 lbs and in a size 12. I will never be able to be a stick because I just don't have that kind of frame. Aimee mentioned Lane Bryant which is one of my Fav stores. I never have a problem finding something I like in there that's my size. I'm wearing maternity clothes right now, but after Jordan is born I am planning on going back on WW and getting down to that 150 lbs. That will be more for my health then anything else. I want to be here for my kids.

As for this poor girl I remember being her. It was really hard to find clothes that were in style in my size when I was a teen. I am pretty busty myself so you can imagine there was no shopping in the junior department for me. I always did have someone there to tell me what looked good and what didn't.
