Parking ... - on my side of the street

Mommy2Isabella wrote: We just moved to a new townhome community. And its kind of like apartment parking, meaning you don't have a driveway. You park off of the street in parking spaces, however our side of the street doesnt have parking space lines.

Point of the post is ..

The people that live across the street have like 5 people living in their townhouse, OR they are pimps and have 5 cars. EITHER WAY, they ALWAYS park in front of my house. Our HOA is $130 A MONTH, and I have a serious Issue with not being able to park in front of my house when I am paying $130 a month and that doesn't include water or any of that nonsense, just HOMEOWNERS whatever they have made up to equal that amount of money.

ANYWAYS, we have guest parking that they could put their other 3 cars in but they insist on parking in front of my house. SO, question is ... what should I do, Sal says we should put cones out when we leave ... < haha but I think we would get in trouble. I don't want to be a PAIN in the rear and cause problems because they do live right across the street. So, any friendly suggestions?

ZandersMama replied: hmmm, i guess the best bet would be to go over and offer your guest spaces, but tell them you need to be able to park in front of your home.

luvbug00 replied: sorry I'm evil. biggrin.gif for 130 bucks they either move their cars when you ask or they get the tow company. it's not your fault they have 5 people in one house and i'd ask whoever you equivilant to management if they pay more because they have all the cars and if they pay the same 130 as you do then the cars best get to movin' !!!! mad.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: When I lived with some friends I was parking in front of one of their neighbor's house for awhile. One day I got a parking ticket - apparently they had complained to the police about my car always being there. It was only $6 so it wasn't a big deal at all and I quit parking there... the ticket wasn't a big deal but I think I'd have preferred they just ask me not to park there - I didn't know it was bothering them and if they'd asked I would have understood and stopped. wink.gif

ETA: you probably would get into trouble if you put cones there - after all the street is city property and it doesn't actually belong to you... it probably isn't even illegal for your neighbors to park there.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Thanks for the input guys.
I am looking out my window right now and they have 3 cars in front of their house. Which is what is there at any given time. Now at night there are more. I understand the street isn't my property .. but have courtesy. I guess I might ask them if they could please not park infront of my house ... or ask the HOA what to do.

Oh my god do I know that - there is a Bosnian family living next door to us that have probably 12 people in the household and they always park in front of my house - we live in a duplex (actually the whole neighborhood is duplexs) so we don't have a driveway... it's SO annoyiong.... especially since htey DO have a driveway, a really long one that they cram all their cars into at night. But during the day, there is no car in teh driveway and they are parked in all our spots!!!

I went over and tried to communicate with them but they spoke barely any English and I don't think the point went across because they still do it - I'd go over and ask nicely, then if they persisit, contact whoever's in charge. Good Luck!

Miranda1127 replied: can you go through hoa? i would try and contact whoever it is you send your check to they should have some kind of regulations and should (since they are getting paid) inforce them.

good luck

flirtycuddle replied: We have an hoa and parking spots but we have still had people in our spots and what we do is go to the hoa and tell them (we have a leasing company here that runs an office, they give us the number to call) then they legally give us the right put a tow sticker on their window. You know the big orange stickers that are a pain and a half to get off lol. We just left a note the first time saying plz do not park in our spot cuz it is our only spot an they stoppe after that. IF u don't wanna go talk to them maybe try a little note on the windsheild and just say could u plz not park in front of our house. And if they still do it contact the hoa cuz they will do something about that

StephanieM replied: I'm sure there are rules through your HOA. I know my SIL got a ticket once for parking the wrong way on the side of the street....and it was in front of her house! But the HOA has rules and someone must have called them about her parking....it was weird. Her car was only out there for like an hour. I'd definitely call them and see what can be done.

Cece00 replied: I'd call the HOA.

coasterqueen replied: laugh.gif I was going to suggest the cones. Sorry no other suggestions. tongue.gif

lisar replied: Call the HOA. Most of them will understand and ask the other people to stop parking there. There is a limit of how many cars you can have in front of the apartment. All HOA's here enforce them. That is why they have guest parking. There is also a limit of how many people can live in one place. 2 bedrooms can only 4 adults total. ANd a child. So just a thought. I would start with the HOA first and see what they can do for you.
