Pantyhose
coasterqueen wrote: I've had it with pantyhose! Who actually invented them anyways? A man? Sorry to all you men out there, lol. They suck the life right out of you when wearing them! Why can't it suck the fat right out of you to?
I pretty much never wore pantyhose before, just wore long skirts and knee-high hose when I was much heavier. Now that I'm a bit thinner I have wanted to wear shorter skirts, etc which require me to wear pantyhose. Sorry I have WHITE WHITE legs, so I *have* to wear pantyhose.
Anyways, I went to the store this morning to buy some and I bought a size bigger than what the box says I *should* be wearing. I figured then I wouldn't get the life sucked right out of me. Well....nope! I'm still trying to breathe and the fat is rolling over the top of my hose because it's SUCKING the life out of me! I've been avoiding water, so I won't have to pee and have to mess with these stupid things!
This is going to be a long legislative session having to wear hose everyday! Or else I better get a new wardrobe!

To answer your question though!!!!!!!!!!!
Advertisement The History of Pantyhose? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Mary Bellis I admit it. I have been asked this question many, many times, "Who invented pantyhose?" and I am happy to be able to post the following answer as to who invented pantyhose, which comes to us courtesy of the USPTO and Glen Raven Mill.
Allen Gant Senior invented pantyhose. In 1959, Glen Raven Mills of North Carolina introduced pantyhose -- underpants and stockings all in one garment. With the addition of an opaque nylon top, panthose eliminated the need for multiple "foundation" garments. In 1965, Glen Raven Mills developed a seamless pantyhose version that coincided with the introduction of the miniskirt. Allen Grant Senior is a descendant of John Gant, who founded the textile mill in 1902.
coasterqueen replied: LOL Thanks Jen! See it was a man!
jen replied: Of course it was! Men love to torture us! and all for a mini skirt! ha ha! My best advice is when spring rolls around is to jump into a tanning bed and ditch the hose!
coasterqueen replied: LOL. What is tanning? I used to try to tan religiously for months and months on end and got nothing! I am german and irish and the irish side of me stands out really well in my skin, lol. I just don't tan. Also I have many friends who have tanned for years and one of them is my sis and they look like leather bags from all the years of tanning. So I will have to settle for the white look
jen replied: I agree I don't like tanning either! LOL! My friends look old and haggard! Like that woman in "Something about Mary"! HAAAAAAAAAAAAA just kidding ! not that bad! ha ha! I am Irish too and fair skinned, I don't tan easily, I just burn! BUT There is this stuff called Toma's Tan Perfect that looks like Chocolate Pudding when you put it on so you can see where it goes and I used it religiously last summer and had a dark, even glowing tan all summer long, and trust me! I can not put on SELF TANNER to save my life! so it does work! It is really easy to use! This summer I am not going to worry too much about going to the beach in my bikini LOL!
coasterqueen replied: Hmm, thanks for the tidbit. I will have to look into that. I was always afraid to use self-tanners because I've seen people look orange from them as well as miss areas where they should have put the stuff on.
Do you use that stuff on your face, neck, arms, feet, etc too? I'm clueless as to how those things work.
jen replied: Yes, you can use it everywhere, it is really dark so you can see where it goes until you rub it in. But you can see how tan you are going to look. It is great! It is the only thing I will use now, all the other tanners make you look like a carrot! LOL! This is more of a natural brown looking tan and when it wears off it doesn't look splotchy or anything it just fades evenly. It comes with exfoliator and a puff and the tanner and you just exfoliate your skin and then spread the tanner on. If you get a streak you can see it before it dries so you just rub it in! They sell it at Walgreens and Eckerds or most pharmacys and probably grocery stores. I think you use it for like 3 or 4 days in a row then just once a week all summer long It does come off on your clothes though until it is dry, but I think they all do that ! But afterwards I wore a white bikini and it never messed it up or anything. Seriously, I don't think self tanning creams are very easy to put on but this one is as good and as easy as they come!
coasterqueen replied: YAY! I'm going to have to try this one. I'm feeling a bit daring, lol. Thanks again!
jen replied: Your Welcome!! You can also usually find it on ebay !
A&A'smommy replied: awwww LOL your too funny!!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That is one thing about having a job outside of the home that I DO NOT miss!! I hated wearing pantyhose. Luckily I could wear scrubs *most* of the time. I hardly ever wear pantyhose now.
MommyToAshley replied: I don't miss that part about going into the office, that's for sure! I still have to put those suckers on occasionally when I have a meeting, but they come off as soon as I get home. I guess that is another up side to working at home, you can work in your PJ's till noon.
And, I have to agree, MEN have invented all the annoying things that we have to put up with!
kit_kats_mom replied: I hate pantyhose but I had to wear them during my entire pregnancy because I worked in an office. I actually found some hose from Just My Size that I bought online for cheap and they fit my big belly and they were really loose and comfy. The trick is to buy them about 6 sizes too big. I literally was ordering size 22 hose.
coasterqueen replied: 6 sizes too big???? That's too funny, I'll have to remember that. I told my boss when I was pg that there was no way I was wearing pantyhose! LOL! I told him I would be dressing down a "bit" because I wasn't wearing them. He didn't argue with my pg hormones
Kaitlin'smom replied: I used to have to wear them all the time! Hated them and knew an man was behind it! but with my job now we are business casual so i wear alot of pants in the winter!
