Pack n Play for sleeping? - Is a Pack n Play OK for sleeping?
mhenderson wrote: Hey all. My daughter is a week and a half old and we are trying a few things to help her sleep. We are giving the 5 Ss a whirl, but I also thought it might be where she is sleeping.
Currently we have her pack n play setup in the bedroom and she sleeps there. I am just curious if there is a preferred sleeping setup like a cradle, the crib, P&P or a swing. My common sense tells me what ever works go with it, but she's not sleeping and I wanted to see if lots of people had bad experiences with a P&P. If so I could switch things up.
Thanks
moped replied: I think Jack was in a bassinette for the first 8 weeks or so until he went to his crib...........
luvmykids replied: I've used the P&P for sleeping quite a bit...my now 5yos slept in it for the first month or two, and my youngest slept in one for a year.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Aiden slept the first month in his P&P in our room. That was the only thing small enough that would fit into our bedroom. He did fine.
Calimama replied: Bella couldn't stand her pack and play.
grapfruit replied: My niece is 16 months old and sleeps in it at the babysitters. I'd say go w/your gut. If that's where you baby sleeps thank God.
PrairieMom replied: Mine both slept in the pack and play for about the first 8 weeks. I have had awesome luck with the 5 s's . also, a little trick I had to use with my daughter is warming up the bed with a heating pad first. that way it wasn't such a shock laying her on the cold sheet. I would just put the pad in there when I gave her her last feeding and then took it out right before I laid her down.
moped replied: That is a good tip Tara!~
Calimama replied: I wish I knew that when Bella was younger!!

A&A'smommy replied: Have you tried a bassinet? Alyssa sleep wonderfuly in hers until she was about 3 or 4months old
Boo&BugsMom replied: We had a put a fluffy blanket under the sheet to make it more comfortable for both the boys. The surface is rather hard, but putting the blanket under it worked well. The pack and play we have has a bassinet attachment. That is what we used.
bunkie replied: I used the bassinet and PnP for both my children. I kept it in the living room for naps when they were little if the bassinet sheets were being washed or something. When we moved from Germany to Texas our oldest was 4 months old, she slept in it until our household items arrived over 2 months later. Our youngest slept in it off and on over the first year of her life if we had visitors or were going somewhere.
Thats what pack and plays are for, so yes its perfectly ok to have your baby sleep in one. If we have another child I wont even bother with a bassinet.
Bigcurt replied: We have a pnp up in our room for Kaity, but she's not much interested in it. She loves sleeping in her swing and on daddy's chest in the glider. I think I will try the blanket under the sheet and the heating pad. Great tips! He nursery is right next to big sis Lexi's room, so we are hoping that she's in her room, in 6 or 8 months.
