PACKAGING QUESTION

mckayleesmom wrote: As I have said before.....I have only sent one package my whole entire life and that was to Kimberly... rolling_smile.gif ...And I even messed that up. My question is...Do I have to wrap my package in that brown wrapping paper stuff? I picked some up at the store earlier along with a box for my secret santa gift and somewhere from the packaging isle to home the wrap dissapeared....I know Mckaylee was using it as a telescope in the store...so Im assuming she dropped it and I didn't even notice when we checked out....Do I have to wrap it?

PrairieMom replied: I was told by the USPS ladies that Brown paper is a huge No No now. Something about it ripping durring shipment. YOu can buy USPS boxes at the post office. I think there is even one that has a standard shipping rate. I would just go there, and they will help you.

mckayleesmom replied:
I bought a box from the store....that will work right...It has To and From on it.... rolling_smile.gif ...Actually the postman the last time told me it was cheaper to go to the store to get them.

PrairieMom replied: I would think so. IMO, life got a lot more difficult when they stopped letting us use the brown paper. dry.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
not to me....I hate wrapping things..... wacko.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: Depends on how you want it shipped. Priority mail, First class mail, and Express mail boxes and envelopes are free of charge at the US post office. Or you cna take it to a UPS store and they'll package it and ship it for you. Good luck. smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied: rolling_smile.gif This won't fit in an envelops...so thats out.....

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Since when can't you use brown paper?

I just shipped out like 10 items in the last 3 weeks, wrapped in grocery store brown paper bags turned inside out ...with packing tape... and nobody said a work to me at the post office

Hmmm...... I think it's just a ploy to make you pay more for the darn boxes and enveloppes.... dry.gif

CantWait replied: You don't have to use the brown paper if you're using the postal boxes so long as it's taped really well. However if you're using regular boxes (shoe box, etc) then brown paper must be used. I receive and send dozens of parcels in a year, and have never had a problem with ripping.

gr33n3y3z replied:
Our post office has no boxes they dont even like to let you use their tape
I will have to ship my stuff out from the UPS store

Boys r us replied: I shipped mine yesterday and I bought a box there and then paid to have it delivered priority mail b/c it was cheaper and I'll tell you why!LOL

I needed tape and of course the chipper young lady working the window at the post office was happy to direct me towards the sales stand that had a roll of tape for sale that was more tape than I'd use in a lifetime for like $5. Then she said..but it you ship it priority mail, you can use the priority mail tape for free. It was only $1.50 difference in price to chip it priority over standard rate.

jacobsmama replied: That is crazy cost more for some tape then priority mail to ship hahha...I'm going to mail my package today or tomm I think i'm just going to the UPS store and sayinghere can you send this to ------ hahha I'm lazy I guess. wink.gif

sunrosejenn replied: I always recycle boxes. If I get something in the mail or shipped to me I save the box if it's in good condition. I erpsonally use FEDEX ground as it's cheaper then UPS. If you set up an account with FEDEX you get a discount. You get the shipment ready online, print the label, tape the label to your box, then drop it off at a FEDEX authorized shipping place, then either they bill you or you can charge it to your CC or debit.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I wrapped my in Christmas paper because the box was ugly. I am sure it will get torn on the way there, but I wrapped the gift sepratley before putting it in the box.

MommyToAshley replied: If you didn't want to use priority mail of FedEx... You can always take the free fed ex or priority mail boxes from the post office, then turn them inside out and tape them back up. It works great and is a lot easier then wrapping with the brown paper. laugh.gif Just be sure not to use the priority mail tape or they won't ship it unless you pay to have it sent priority.

And, if you bought a cute box already, you could just stick it inside. thumb.gif

MyLuvBugs replied:
No. You can get Priority, First class and Express BOXES. They aren't just envelopes, and they're completely Free at the USPS. Just go upto the counter and ask them for a small Priority mail box.

MyLuvBugs replied:
They all have boxes, and it's their obligation to offer you one if you ask for it. All the Post offices offer the same services. Check out their website and you can even order boxes for free there if they refuse to give you them.

3_call_me_mama replied: I just wrap it in christmas paper adn tape whit paer with the addres written on it on teh front. Never had a problem. Even shipping over seas that way!
