P & PT please....

3forme wrote: Tomorrow my dad is having brain surgery. A couple of years ago he developed encephalytus (sp?) where he had water on his brain. They put a shunt in to drain it and apparently it stopped working. They are going to see if they can put a new shunt in or repair that one. I talked to him last night. He is nervous as am I. He did say that his surgeon was #3 in the country so that is good.

If you all could just say a prayer or send some positive thoughts his way.
Thanks!

3forme replied: I wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your parayers and positive thoughts. My stepmom called earlier and said my dad made it through the surgery with flying colors. They had to actually replace the catheter and the shunt instead of just repairing it as they thought they were going to do. They told her he might even go home as early as tomorrow. I am so relieved. I am hoping to talk to him at some point tonight depending on his meds, etc.

Thanks again for your support, it meant a lot to me. I was really scared about this. Anytime the brain is messed with it seems pretty serious IMO.
