Outage - Database Issue
TLCDad wrote: Hi All
It looks like we had a problem with the database for a little bit there. We restored the databases and things are back up now. Sorry for the inconvience. If any posts are missing or you noticing any other problems please let me know.
Again sorry for the downtime.
Thank you.

I left for a while, came back...refreshed, and it was back!!

doo-doo happens -
TLCDad replied: Followup: we are still having issues; in fact had a crash this afternoon but I was online so I was able to repair the database and get things back up in less than a minute.
Evidently there is a nasty bug with the latest version of the database engine used on the server. Alot of forums/databases are crashing since this weekend all over the internet. It is almost like a virus.... but its not, just a bug.
Hopefully there will be a fix as early as tonight sent to the server. I will keep you all posted.
If you get errors, please know, I will get things backup ASAP. I am backing up the forum every hour so we will not loose much if any data if a bad crash occurs. And again hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.... unfortuantly the only thing I can do is wait and repair things when they go haywire ;(
supermom replied: Hey TLCDad - this is a test message because it's very unusual for you all not to have any new posts in more than two hours - is all ok?
Well, guess so because my post went and I could also edit it and add this - so maybe people are dealing with R/L
TLCDad replied: I think everything was ok. I think it was just people getting off work, etc... Everything seems to be working fine. *knocking on wood*
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I had a little itty bitty problem earlier.... The board wouldn<t let me post! But it seems alright now!
TLCDad replied: Just now? Yep I got the error too. ;( I went and repaired the database again and brought it back up.
Still working on this. Looks like the server patch last night did not fix this. I will keep you all informed.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: yeah, not too long ago...
cool beans!
supermom replied: Any way to go back to the earlier version until they resolve this? Just trying to keep you from having to work so hard is all. Don't you just love co's who test their stuff before they release it? <she says, sarcastically!>
You can only do what you can do - we're all behind ya, we ain't going anywhere that is for sure!!
<<hugs>> - do understand the frustration!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Yeah! take the time that yoiu need... I'm not going anywhere....
supermom replied: Hahaha - I haven't heard that expression in a long time!! -
TLCDad replied: Yep I have asked. Its not really the provider of the servers fault but the company who makes the webhost administration/cpanel. They forced in an upgrade to mysql (the database engine). I asked them to try and downgrade but I am sure they will think it might screw up other things but this is just unacceptable.
At least I know we are not the only one. Many people all over the internet are having problems. Probably going to have to wait until Cpanel (the company that makes the webhosting configuration software) fixes their bug.
Oh well at least I know alot about programming and databases and am able to recover posts, etc where completely possible and I have a script that runs every hour making a complete backup.
Sorry to rant.. but as you can imagine this is very fustrating ;(
TLCDad replied: I believe this problem has been resolved! *knocking on wood*
I am moving this thread to the General Discussions so that it will stop showing up as the latest news
