Out & about bag... - What do you take with you?

Well, I find that I'm never prepared for anything when we are out (hunger, injuries, boredom) and since I'm used to carrying a diaper bag I figured, why not increase the size of the bag and make it an out and about bag.
I know I want to start bringing bandaids, pain medicine (especially with Jiu-Jitsu, someone is always getting some sort of pain).
Anyway....what do you usually take with you when you go out and about...for the little ones as well as your older kids.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well I only have one child but here is whats in the van in a bag. Complete change of clothes, mini first aid kit. Usually some books, she always brings a stuffed animal, pillow blanket, I have extras of all that just incase she forgets. I have sunscreen, snacks, water, and depeding where were going as to what else I pack along.
TheOaf66 replied: snacks, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, pain reliever, bandaids, toys, extra clothes etc, basically pack for anything
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I don't pack in advance. When I'm on my way out the door I grab things, and put it into the diaper bag, and my hand bag I grab things like, Pacifiers, Talking toys, Diapers, Wipes, Bottles, change of clothes, blanket, That's about it. Maybe I should pack in advance this way it won't take me so long to get out of the house
AlexsPajamaMama replied: My handbag I bring everywhere is kinda like a diaper bag for a potty training 2 year old! Underwear for him, a Pull Up, snacks, travel potty seat, little book. Also in the car we have wipes, a bag for trash, sunscreen, change of clothes for Alex, snacks, books and little happy meal toys to keep him busy.
I'm not much help with stuff for older kids.... Good luck with getting more organized!
holley79 replied: Well Brandon is old enough to fend for himself. Annika's bag usually (when I think about it ) contains diapers, changes of clothes, wipes and what ever I can think to toss in there. The time that I need something though it's never there.
BAC'sMom replied: Most of the stuff that I need is already kept in the truck. I have the organizer that you keep on the back of the seats, they really help with all the clutter of 3 kids. Toys Sippy cup Extra diapers and wipes Tablets/ coloring books/ books Markers/ map colors (crayons melt in the Texas heat) Game boy w/ games Sunscreen Off Small first aid kit (tylenol and ear ache medicine) Blanket
luvmykids replied: In the trunk I always keep a change of clothes for each kid, water, and a mini first aid kit w/ sunscreen and bug spray. In our bag are pull ups, sippy cup for Macie, toys.
C&K*s Mommie replied: As far as purse, I carry one diaper or pull-up (for Kellie) & extra change to grab a snack or drink.
Jamison'smama replied: I pack diapers and wipes sunscreen Antibacterial wipes a small first aid kit tweezers a small notebook and pen (for me or for a bored 3 year old) pacifier sippys my coupons if I am going to be near a store a ponytail holder for myself or Jamison a couple of little toys
ETA for an older kid I would think about a small deck of cards--great for restaurants.
Brias3 replied: Two bags are usually always with me- my purse and a bag we keep in the car. In my purse, I always have Kleenex, bandaids, bacitracin, insect bite stuff, Germ-X, sanitizing wipes, a small baggie of a few crayons and a small notepad (for mine or the kids use) amongst all my other stuff. In our car bag, I keep a change of clothes for each kid, a sippy for Mason just in case, a couple of small snack packages, a water bottle or two, some sunscreen and some bugspray. They always have a toy or two each in the car too.
paradisemommy replied: i keep in my bag a little like makeup size bag that i put little essentials in - bandaids, baccitracin, tweezers, nail clippers, tylenol, alcohol swabs, qtips, milicon, a little hairbrush, rubber band. in my bag i also put, diapers, wipes change of clothes and water for each of them and snacks.
in the car, i keep another change of clothes, diapers, more snacks, towels and swim clothes (just in case we wanna head to the beach) along with sunblock, beach mat and a TON of toys (to include books, balls, happy meal toys, you name it!!)
moped replied: I don't keep much...diapers, wipes, snacks and food items, juice or milk. I don't use a purse when Jack and I go out so I have my wallet and keys and maybe a small toy for him....................not very prepared. If i am out and i need something I will buy it, like bandaids etc.
coasterqueen replied: Same here. I'm pretty minimal than most.
For Megan I keep:
disposable bibs diapers wipes changing mat a snack motrin/tylenol sippy cup receiving blanket (more for me, lol) change of clothes (if I remember )
For Kylie I keep:
bib mylicon
When it was just Kylie I would keep a bib and mylicon in my purse and skipped a bag.
We already have a 1st aid kit in the car so I don't take it in anywhere I go, we'll just go back to the car if we need a booboo that requires a bandaid. But we are extremely minimalists when it comes to using bandaids or any ointments.
garrettsmom replied: Garrett's diaper bag is always packed and ready to go....
diapers wipes changes of clothes burp cloths pacifiers toys/rattles light blanket balmex tylenol mylicon sunscreen bibs .....and it has a small compartment where you can stick in a freezer pack and a bottle.
.........think that's it!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: My two older ones are fully toilet trained... so I bring one or 2 diapers for the baby, depends how long we are going to be out... but if we're oging to the mall, I don't bring any diaper stuff - it's supplied in the parents room. (basically a place where parents can go for privacy. There are ''quiet corners'' - half-walls with some kleenexes, low lighting, breast pads, bottle warmers and a rocking chair, there are 3 changing tables with diapers and wipes and cream supplied and stocked regularly, child and parents sized private bathrooms...)
Otherwise - I bring a gatorade bottle filled with water and a plastic cup - I fill as needed for the kids, I bring Naomie's bottle filled with water, and some measured formula in a tupperware container, just in case something happens and for some reason I canèt sit down and feed her - like if I'm alone with the 3 kids I,d rather feed her from a bottle to keep an eye on the other two instea dof having them run around and me running after them with boob hanging out...
that's about it. I don't worry about more clothes... because kids get dirty, everybody knows that... so what if there is a stain or two on their clothes. Big deal!
If we're going outside for a while, then I bring sunscreen and a few extra water-filled gatorade bottles.
ETA - I also bring my film-canister first aid kit. it's got everything in it.. i learned how to make it years ago in Girl Guides
