patzer wrote: Today's question.....

What percentage of 13-16 year olds have a personal profile on social networking sites like MySpace.com, Xanga and Friendster?

Remember, your kids can help, but no google searches for the right answer!

Good Luck!

I would greatly appreciate it if parents would visit my Internet Safety Website and give me feedback on what content they find valuable and what they might want to see added. Please personal message me or reply here and Ill send you a link

ashtonsmama replied: Ummm...maybe something like 80%? I'm sure it's a TON.

Brias3 replied: I'm going with 72%

mamasbigbaby replied: 70%

MichaelsMommy replied: 90%

BabyOwen427 replied: I doubt it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that all of them do. When I was in high school everyone I knew had their own web page with tons of personal photos, and I know noone realized that ANYONE online can view their photos (that's scary)
I am guessing 95%. I hope I am way wrong.

patzer replied: Ill private message it to you. Wether the moderators will allow me to post the link, I'm not sure. I did post it once on trhe board and my message was pulled. So I'll wait to hear from a moderator before I do it again =)

mamasbigbaby replied: Okay, You can pm it to me. Thanks.

ashtonsmama replied:
I don't think that they'll even allow you to PM it, I think you need to email it to people, just FYI.

patzer replied: Only going with what they told me last time. They said it was ok to ask for feedback by PM only.

ashtonsmama replied:
OK. Sorry. I could have been mistaken. I'm sure they'll let you know if you slip up! Thanks for keeping us updated on online safety, it's a very important thing to keep up to speed on...

CantWait replied: 73%

MomToJade&Jordan replied: 98%

Bee_Kay replied: I'll say 87

amymom replied: I am going to go with 93%. For my son all of his friends but one have a myspace.

Jeffs Wife replied: I am going to say 87% and I'm hoping that is too high.

I have a son who is almost 18 and a daughter who is 16 and neither one of them do and I want to keep it that way. I think Myspace and other sites like it should only be for adults to use. Too many children are being hurt by it

Jamison'smama replied: 78

kimberley replied: it is not okay to PM or post links to any saleable products or services or competing forums. it must be done completely independant of parenting club.

asking for feedback on issues is fine in PM or on the boards. promoting your site is not. sorry.

and to answer your question, my guess is 80%.

ZandersMama replied: 89

7thHeaven replied: I would say about 95%

patzer replied: and the days winner (drumroll please.....)

MamasBigBaby with a guess of 70%

Teens have established significant presence on social networking web pages: 61% of 13- to 17-year-olds have a personal profile on a site such as MySpace, Friendster, or Xanga. 50% have also posted pictures of themselves online.
