Once Upon a Child - do you have one nearby???

toady_buckshot_noodle wrote: I don't know if some of you have even heard of it, don't know how big the chain is. It is a chain of children's (and some maternity) consignment stores. I used to go there all the time to sell my kids stuff and buy more until I discovered the joys of e-bay biggrin.gif

I live about 1 and 1/2 hour's drive from both Charleston, SC and Savannah, Ga. I was in one of the Charleston stores a couple of weeks ago and found jeans for AnaBeth for $1.50 a pair!!! Not fancy, just something to wear to play in, etc.

Well, today I was in Savannah for my Dad's appt. and went by Once Upon a Child there and the exact same type jeans there were $4.50!! Still cheap but geeez, 3 times as much as Charleston!

But I did grab a Beaux et Belles smocked outfit (about $50 retail) for $12 biggrin.gif I was tickled.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Got one about 50 miles from home here.

mckayleesmom replied: We have different ones....one is called All 4 Kids and its a rip off.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: We have several Once Upon a Child stores around here (Dallas area) and one in my hometown (North Texas..Oklahoma border). wink.gif We have jillions of consignment shops here. They are not my favorite. We have one called "Kid to Kid" and it is great. thumb.gif

six_kids_at_28 replied: We have a Once Upon A Child around 45 min from us..I try to donate at Salvation Army though.

~KARA~ replied: there are like 10 with in 90 min from me. There is one 3 blocks from my lil sisters dorm so Im gong to kill 2 birds with 1 stone some week.

3_call_me_mama replied: We have a Once upon a child about 40 minutes from us. But they are WAY overpriced for used stuff:(

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: There is one in Indiana (I am in Illinois) I went there when I was pg. I got a couple of outfits, but haven't been back since. She gets enough new clothes from her Nana!! wacko.gif

ammommy replied: I think that they are way overpriced, too. I saw a gap skirt for Megan (end of current season) that they had priced at $12. At Gap, the first markdown was 12.50! I like to sell my stuff there, though because they give me more$$ if I get there right at the beginning of the season. If I'm mid-season, I'll take it to a local shop to get the most money.

kimberley replied: i agree, the place is overpriced for sure. their larger items (cribs, strollers, etc) are almost as expensive as buying brand new. we have one about 10minutes away but i rarely go there. i get better deals when the stores have end of season sales or go to Value Village.

My2Beauties replied: Wow, the one here is really cheap. I got Hanna's Halloween Costume for $10 and it's one of those $40 costumes. I get a lot of her clothes there for like $1-4 per outfit. I love ONce Upon a Child, we have like 2 o or 3 of them here I know.

chloe&tysmommy replied: I bought some stuff from there (mostly clothes and some toys) but I have noticed there prices went WAY up so I only buy now if it is super cheap happy.gif

Cece00 replied: We dont have that chain here but we do have some local ones. I dont buy much there, usually the things arent too cute or arent in good shape. Occasionally I find something I want to buy but its rare. I do bring stuff there to sell, though, but things I bring to sell are always cute & in very good condition.

Calimama replied: Why are all these old threads coming up? blink.gif
