Okay this makes no sense to me? Does it you?

Okay, she pays all her household bills with her credit card, uses it for fuel for 3 vechicles that are driven every day, hers, her 18 year old son and her husband truck that he uses to travel every month, so she says about 1000 worth of fuel a month. She pays her house payment, utilities, insurance and groceries on her credit card. She has a huge monthly payment of course. And interest.
She was telling she does this so she can get her frequent flyer miles and points to go to Florida every year for free!!
Am I the only person who realizes that NOTHING is free. She pays enough interest to go to Florida more than once I am sure. But the free is there so she thinks a good deal, and easy as pie.
Am I wrong or is this just crazy??? It irrates me when she is doing her bills and says, oh just a few more points and off to Florida for free.. I want to scream it's not FREE! It's 18% interest!
moped replied: Well the only way I see it working is if she pays it the same day 100%.....right?
TANNER'S MOM replied: Yes but she doesn't. And if many people did that, why would they use credit cards? The company wouldn't make any money right?
ediep replied: you are totally right, that is crazy!!!
HuskerMom replied: You're right, that's crazy. She should talk to Dave Ramsey about that, I could just imagine what he'd say.
moped replied: Right........so yeah you are right. If she doesn't pay it right away then that is CRAZZZZZZYYYY
My3LilMonkeys replied: If she paid the full balance every month that would be a great idea and make sense - but if not she's crazy!!!!!
MoonMama replied:
Is she feeling ok?
Calimama replied: Seriously.
luvmykids replied: Depending on when the billing cycle ends and payment is due, you can pay it off without interest, I think it's usually a 15-20 day period that you can get away with paying it with no interest.
I know a lot of people who do it, but only because they can truly afford to pay it in that window....if you have to float it at all you definitely get nailed.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: You're right that doesn't make sense!
kit_kats_mom replied: It doesn't make sense if she doesn't pay it all off each month. We use our AMEX like that and have for years. Plus, my DH uses it for expenses at work which are reimbursed within two weeks. We always pay it off when the bill comes in though so there is no interest accrued. We do have the annual membership fee but it's negligible when you consider that we earn an average of 8-10 flights per year. We haven't paid for a flight in a looooong time.
Boys r us replied: We use our Signature Visa like that b/c we get airmiles..and in our case..we ARE getting something for free b/c we pay off our balance every month! But we put everything on that visa and we earn mad airlines miles! But the way she's doing it is stupidddddddddd! She'd be way better to pay her Mortgage and stuff with her money money each month and then just put the FL plane tickets on her Credit Card! LOL Sounds to me like she's probably living above her means and this other FL talk is just a way she tries to justify it!
gr33n3y3z replied: I know ppl. who do that also and pay it in full before its due to risky for me with all those bills lined up like that. Maybe it works for them since he is never home who really knows what others do is their business.
