Okay, I tried the cutting tip of binky off and...

coasterqueen wrote: it didn't make a difference. rolling_smile.gif I thought I would go ahead and try it since the paci is a silicone one and I was watching her the whole time afterwards. I just cut the tip off to see what she did with it. She put it in her mouth, sucked on it for a second, took it out, looked at it, then put it back in her mouth and kept on sucking! She did that for over an hour before we left for work this morning. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Didn't someone say this works? Wouldn't I know it, not for my child! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

kimberley replied: sorry it didn't work for you. Kylie sure is determined lol. maybe "hide the paci" will work better. i know with the kids i babysat we would conveniently "forget" them at home when we went out or we couldn't find them. good luck on your next attempt.

coasterqueen replied:
LOL! Hide them? Not with this child. We tried that, she'd just scream for ever til she got one. rolleyes.gif She even figured out where we kept them so we changed where we kept them, she still figured it out. rolleyes.gif

I guess I'll just have to let her decide. She's so stubborn!

booey2 replied: Hi, another veriation of cutting the tip off is to actually slice the silicone down the middle so it is in two halves. My sister in law did it with her daughter and it worked. Just a thought.

jem0622 replied:

Then it would really be 'broken'! How could she enjoy it?

It was me who said it 'worked' but you know some kids are strong willed Karen! My oldest is a testament to that!

booey2 replied:
That is my point wink.gif , my neice then just spit it out and cried for another one and since my sister inlaw did this to all of them they let her CIO and it never lasted long. My niece was 3 when they did this.

A&A'smommy replied: awww lol she is so funny! rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I thought it was you Julie, but I couldn't remember. rolling_smile.gif This child is just so strong willed. I will need lots of dye for this gray hair she's gonna give me. rolling_smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: sorry it did not work, I hope you find something that will

maliksmommy replied: Karen we got rid of Malik's about a month ago and he was addicted to his before that. On a Friday when I picked him up from Daycare I left his binky there and threw the other one away so that I wouldn't give into him crying for it. It was a long weekend but he got over it. The hardest was at night and I just told him that binky was gone and he cried for a while but eventually wore himself out that he fell asleep. I just tried to be very comforting and now he hasn't used one for a month. I had tried other things before but just getting rid of them all so you can't give her one no matter what was the only thing that worked for me. I hope this helps:)

coasterqueen replied:
I think that's my problem, giving in. blush.gif sad.gif But I'm afraid that if I don't give it to her then she will be nursing 24/7! UGH! Well, I think I just need to think this all through and decide what I'm going to do. Maybe I should wait til these 2 year molars are in to be easier on me. blush.gif Once those puppies are in no more teething for a while.

chloe&tysmommy replied: That's a good question! I was just thinking about weaning Chloe off of her soother but I don't know how else to do it other than taking it away and letting her cio bawling.gif

She uses it to fall asleep, for her naps and at bedtime. I was worried about her teeth but I may wait until she's at least 2 and then try huh.gif

I'm going to try this though and see if she notices....I've never heard of doing this before...
