Ok girls...big question..

alice&arik wrote: I know my sister, teddybearmomx4 will probably read this, but I have searched the internet for answers and can't find any.

Anyway, I started the b/c patch 3 weeks ago, on the Sat. after my period was almost over. Well my doctor never said anything about using condoms for the first week if you start it on a weekend. If you start within 24 hours of your period you don't have to use anything else. Well I don't know if i am just having side effects or what, but it feels like I am pregnant. At first I just had cramps, then nauseau, then headaches. Well then this past week my boobs started to hurt. Then the past 3 days my boobs have swollen and hurt. I am also really tired lately, I just want to sleep, and cranky. I have read that these are all side effects, but nothing about the boobs swelling. (something that happened the 1st month of last pregnancy) I don't want to go in and feel like an idiot. But I also don't want to continue using the patch if I am pregnant, because it is not good.

Any ideas would be great, or if anyone else has used the patch and had this same stuff happen. TIA!

kimberley replied: i would get tested and stop the patch. better to be safe than sorry. my experience is with the depo shot and i missed the last one i was supposed to get by a couple of days and they refused to give me another one without getting a blood pg test done so i think it is possible you could be. good luck and let us know how it goes.

beckamouse replied: i have the same advice...get off the patch and get tested immediatly.... and let us know!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep I agree stop the patch and get tested, and then you have to let us know!

coasterqueen replied: I agree! Get tested and quit the bc for now. BTW, didn't know teddybearmom was your sister? LOL.

alice&arik replied:
Yes she is my older sister. The only reason I mentioned her was I don't want her to tell my mom or someone, not that she would. But that is why I was scared to post this topic. unsure.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I have to agree, I would get tested first and then restart the patch after your next cycle. It's best to be safe. Let us know how things go!

MylittlePaige replied: I had some of these symptoms when I started the patch as well. I would stop it and test though since you are unsure to be safe. My OB told me to use other forms of contraception the first month to be extra careful. I am not sure if she told me that bc I was on the pill when I got pregnant with Paige or just because.

wink.gif Hey Alice- I wouldn't tell mom or anyone if you didn't want me to.

I agree with everyone else- go get tested! I hope it comes out the way you want!

alice&arik replied: Well I went in to Urgent Care down here. They had me take a urine pg test, which was negative. The doctor told me to have a follow up appt. in 3 or 4 weeks to see if the side effects go away. That is pretty much all they said. It was a pain in the butt. I had 2 different people come in before I saw the doc, and took the test before I even saw him, then I saw 2 more people after him. ALL different nurses, and one admissions lady, isn't that just stupid? I was there for an hour and a half! mad.gif And when the doctor came in he just sat there looking at the papers the other nurses filled out. Then he asked, What is the matter? Why are you here?

Uh Hello? Idiot. So anyway, he also said that the swelling is from estrogen. And it is probably from the patch. He never even looked at me. Never even checked my heart or anything, the first nurse actually took my BP, and temp. But I guess that is good enough huh?

But I am glad that it was neg. But I will keep everyone posted. Thanks everyone!

Mom2Boyz replied: I'm glad you got tested and found out. Better to be safe than sorry thumb.gif

amynicole21 replied: Doctor's visits are such a pain in the &#&W*$%& mad.gif I'm glad you got everything checked out, though. Like Amy said, better safe than sorry!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Glad you went and tested. I would still follow up with your own doctor in a few weeks if the symptoms don't go away.

coasterqueen replied: Glad you got tested and found out what it is. I hate going to the doctor though. Sometimes it seems like a real waste of time. rolleyes.gif
