TANNER'S MOM wrote: Is a few digits off a gas company in the state of Washington. I get calls all the time with people wanting to make payment arrangments on there bill....or they have the smell of gas. I had one call that I felt so mad for...an hispanic woman called and said that her house was sooo cold and her babies were cold...no heat?? And she couldn't understand enought english to understand that I really couldn't help her,

But anyway..

I have a southern accent.. And someone just called and when I said sorry wrong number HUN..b/c that is how we talk.. he said I just want you to know you sound IGNORANT..WTF????

I was just giving him a little hospitiality..and he calls me names... I was so po'd.

I agree that the southern sound is not the smart sounding...English, Aussies...or Yankee's....Boston they are the smart sounding ones!! Well just b/c I may not sound like everyone in Washington! I am not ignorant..and at least I am not asking for an extentsion on GAS bill is what I wanted to say sooooo dang bad!

Aren't I silly@

I find if you talk to anyone BUT a southern they are nasty on the phone

The more south I go the better the food and nicer ppl.

redchief replied: I'm midatlantic born and raised and I call people hon all the time... Right hon?

JAYMESMOM replied: I was born and raised in the north and I call people hon and dear all the time. It has bothered a few patients over the years but most do the same. Ecspecially the older ones - I guess they would rather be called dear and hon than mam. It is all about respect and decency unfortunately most people now a days don't have any so they don't know what it is when it happens to them.

gr33n3y3z replied: yes hon wink.gif

GavinsMommy replied: at least us southerners prounounce our r's unlike most of those dialects you mentioned wink.gif

Alice replied: If anyone sounded ignorant, it was the guy calling you names!!!

Boys r us replied: Mel, I'm sorry!! Sopmetimes I have to talk to customers on the phone at work...and sometimes you get the occaisional JERK who is MAD b/c HE WROTE MORE CHECKS THAN HE HAD MONEY and wants his overdraft fees back and then when I refuse, they will bring up the accent..and I BARELY have one! Makes me feel like saying..look you idiot, I may have a southern accent, but you're the ignorant one who obviously can't seem to get through your skull that when you spend $500 and you only have $50 in your account..that it's going to be a problem..and that makes ME ignorant how?
