Oh gosh, this isn't good

sparkys2boys wrote: Dh just called me from his cell phone and in a very paniced voice he said Sherri I am at a very very bad accident on the highway and I am helping where I can. I will be awhile, it's BAD.

That's all I got from him and I am sick to my stomach. I know he is ok and that is wasn't involved ( I think sad.gif ) Now I am sitting here waiting for the phone to ring again.

lisar replied: You heard his voice and know he is okay. But I would still worry also. I hope everything is okay.

sparkys2boys replied: Thanks you guys. DH is fine and was not in the accident at all. There was a biker (pedal) with a trailor who flipped over on the highway going down a very step hill and with no helmet on to say the least. He was hurt pretty bad, broken bones as far as dh could see and head tramua also. This poor man had his helmet in a bag on the back of his bike. What's worse it's law here to wear one at all times. Paramedics came and carted him off to the emergency room and that's all I know. I will watch the paper to see if more is said later. Thanks for the concern hug.gif

lisar replied:
Hope he is okay. Let us know if you see anything on it in the paper

grapfruit replied:
Oh my! What was he doing on the highway though???

sparkys2boys replied:
I am not sure what you mean here? He was biking on the highway to get to another place I guess?? He was from out of province and is touring around?

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: OMG, well I'm glad DH wasn't involved in the accident. And sounds like the guy is going to be okay. Scary stuff! hug.gif

redchief replied:
I think it's a matter of colloquial terms... In the states when most of us think "highway" we think of a high speed divided road with multiple lanes. In Canada a highway may also be a two lane road that has higher speed limits and is not urban.

It never ceases to amaze me how people intentionally gamble with their lives. A great majority of the bikers (and there are a lot of them here in the summer) here do not wear helmets when they ride. How they can accept the "it can't happen to me" rationale in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary dumbfounds me. People here with those types of injuries get helicopter rides. I continually thank them for my increased insurance deductibles.
