Oh No! - work vent
kit_kats_mom wrote: Most of you know I WAH and send K to daycare during the day while I keep Lauren occupied and work. Well, I've been processing medicaid eligiblity percentages for the entire state of Missouri's school districts for about 3 years. I've got it down to a science and I average about 30 hours a week. The MO folks love me and I love my job.
A lady quit and my supervisor reccomended me to take over FL. It's an entirely new system but after getting a small hourly raise and being told that overtime is OK I accepted FL. I trained all last week and I think I'm ready but like any new job, I'll have to really pay attention for the first few months.
I've been adjusting this week to working more hours and it basically means that I really don't see my DH at all. I've not even turned on a TV in over a week or watched a movie. I just got an email that I am also getting SC because the lady they had intended to give it to, "just isn't technologically savvy enough to take it on". So now I have 3 states.
I can handle the two, with some sacrafices but 3?!? I'll never see my family
The bad part is that if I tell them no on SC, I could get a bad rap. Possibly even get fired even though I really have no clue who would be able to take on MO. LOL
I really feel stuck & since I WAH I feel like I shouldn't complain but I seriously want to just cry.
I'm sure that after a few months, it will even out and I'll have it all worked out to where I can do it all in 40 hours, but with two vacations coming up, I was kind of counting on taking it easy at work for the next couple of months. BOOOOOO
luvbug00 replied: That really stinks! I hope they figure somthing out quick so your not stuck with all this work !!
mckayleesmom replied: I wish I could do something like that working from home,,,,but that does sound like alot with 2 extra states.
gr33n3y3z replied: you will get it all done and things will work out for you It may take time but it will all work out in the end
amynicole21 replied: That sucks! Nothing like being competent to ensure you'll get dumped on
Want to train me? I'll take SC for you if I can stay home I'm only half kidding...
lisar replied: I'm sorry. I hope it all works out for you. it will in the end you see.
Lisa
JAYMESMOM replied: I am sorry they did that for you. I wish I could help you if it meant I could work from home. LOL.
It will work out just give it time all new jobs take adjusting to.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I'm with you Amy. I was going to say the same thing. You can train me Cary and I will take SC. It would be nice to bring in some extra money before we move.
Gee it's good to know that they thing your a competent enough to take on three states. I hope things get a little easier for you soon.
MommyToAshley replied: I so know how you feel.... WAH isn't quite what I thought it would be. I AM thankful that I can work from home but, it gets very hectic sometimes. And on those days I feel very guilty for not spending much time with Ashley, even though DH usually spends time with her when I am not. It's just hard when you would rather be spending the time with your family. I just finished a week like that and was hoping that things were going to slow down but I am headed out the door for a meeting now and then will be working all night on a newsletter. I am going to spend the afternoon with Ashley though. Sorry, didn't mean to turn your vent into my vent... I just wanted to say I understand.
I think Amy and Carrie-Ann actually have a good idea... why not recommend and train someone for the extra areas. It's not like you are turning down the work and leaving them in a bind, but offering another solution.
DansMom replied: You have my sympathy Cary! Would it really be bad to let them know that you hope they will continue to look for and train someone to do those other states... what a drag!
jcc64 replied: You're singing my song, Cary. We've really downsized in my company- we've lost 3 designers in the last year, while our workload keeps increasing. So now, I'm doing the work that was once done by 3 separate people- all for the same salary I've had since 2001 and no benefits. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh! I hope you have a cleaning person.....
Kaitlin'smom replied: Wow thats alot, I to would love to WOH, but this job reqires me to be in the office, also I just dunno If I could do it, I mean I woudl want to slack most days and then crunch in the end. I hope you find the grove and can find the time you need/want for the family if not I would suggest the same thing find some one to train and get rid of one state
