Oh NO!!!! - this isnt going to fly

And she also provided the class with watching Jerry Maguire rated R in a public school in class. Come on WTH!!!!!!!!
Conference time with this teacher is a must and the school principle.
PrairieMom replied: How does she expect to get away with that kind of behavior? Are you going to call the principal?
cameragirl21 replied: OMG, Lisa, that's just insane, i don't even know what to say! Kudos to Erin for telling you guys, it means she knows that what her teacher is doing is wrong and that means she's a very good kid with a bright future.
gr33n3y3z replied: Oh I'm having a meeting with the principle and the teacher and I will have to say when I'm done with her she wont have a job left
You have no clue how mad I'am right now
C&K*s Mommie replied: without a doubt it is conference time with a big "C".
let us know how it goes.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: The teacher has been saying that if she was not teaching she would still be hitting the bong? Her mom took it away from her? How old is she? WOW! I think I would be making a few calls for sure....
Kaitlin'smom replied: you know I dont think I would want to encounter you or Ed mad. and this teacher is how old? did they really think they would get away with saying things like that? totaly WRONG
redplaydoh replied: I need to pick my jaw off the floor now. I cannot believe this teacher is saying stuff like this, much less showing an R-rated movie at school. I hope it doesn't come down to "her word against mine" on that bong issue. Please let us know what is said at the conference!
sparkys2boys replied: omg.. what kind of teacher is this??? Gawd, has she been at the school long??? Wow, i'm shocked.
Calimama replied: Agreed.
gr33n3y3z replied: 1st year teaching I have to call the school at 8:30 in the morning
I've calmed down quite abit since earlier And if comes down to her word against who ever I will have them bring every kid down that is in that class with Erin and see her get out of that one.
Nina J replied: Is she insane??? I think she's still on the reefa...
I hope you get it sorted out, that kind of behavior from a teacher isn't acceptable.
quinnandjacob'smom replied: OMG, that is absolutely insane! I would be having a hissy too. I hope she loses her job. I can't believe she was ever hired in the first place. Good luck!
Adrienne522 replied: That is crazy. I cannot believe that the teacher thinks this behavior is acceptable.
hawkshoe replied: I would be very upset too. This is one thing I would not let go by the wayside. I am not sure your daughters age, but kids are very impressionable. They look up to their teachers. Her remarks are incalled for. I would definately request a meeting with the principal and the teacher. To me, and I don't take firing teachers lightly, this would be grounds for dismissal.
gr33n3y3z replied: Ok I called and a meeting is set up for Dec. 5th with the teacher and principal at 2:30 its long bc she only has 2 times free during the day and the am time isnt enough time to get everything in plus I'm working at that time so I took the 2:30 after school and this way she will know I'm coming in and I want to see if her attitude changes tords Erin bc of that.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Lisa... this is just ridiculous. I feel very sorry for your daughter... she shouldn't have to be subjected to that behaviour.
On the flipside... maybe the teacher was just trying to relate to the kids, to be a "buddy" of sorts so that they would get along better. If that's what the teacher was trying to do, then the comment "it's the thought that counts" would apply...because although the intention might have been good, the way he went about it was completely innapropriate. No child should be exposed to a teacher talking like that.
Does he deserve to be fired? Yeah probably... but I'd probably feel a little bad for him because it's his first year and he seems to still be a little green around the gills... with wanting to be liked by his students and wanting to be able to relate to them in order to forge a relationship...maybe some "human interaction" classes or some "ethical classes" would be a better punishment.
I hope you get the answers you're looking for, and I hope that he is dealt with in the way you'd like to see.
msoulz replied: Holy $#!& - you have more patience than I - I'd be sitting in the principal's office until he/she talked to me.
Please do let us know how it went. Good luck!
gr33n3y3z replied: Teachers shouldnt be your childs friend nor buddy they are there to teach not to be a friend.
If they want to get to know the students thats fine they can do it in a much better way then what she did. And I understand she is wet behind the gills also.
As for her job it will be in the principals hands and she will get switched out of that class into another.
holley79 replied: I don't blame you, I would be all over that. KUP.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Wow, hasn't she ever heard of professionalism?!?! Maybe she missed that day in college!
lisar replied: WOW..... I would be making a few calls to the school board also. I agree if that were my childs teacher she wouldnt have a job when I got done. Let us know how it all goes.
redchief replied: Heheh... Teacher discipline is usually my job. I told Lisa this one was on her. So far, I'm impressed.
MyLuvBugs replied: THe computer teacher was letting them watch Jerry McGuire??? WTH? Isn't there something else they can learn besides "Show me the money" that pertains to computers?
MyLuvBugs replied: DANG!! You go girl! Kick some butt! Take some names! Smack that teacher into next century!
I have to admit....my dad was the Superintendant of our school (which in a big school would be like the principal) and this sorta thing would NEVER fly with him. He would have that teacher fired faster than you could say See YA!
CantWait replied: I can totally see saying ya I did it, but she said ya I did it AND I STILL WOULD BE doing it if I didn't have to get drug testing done.
I hope something is done Lisa because that is just plain WRONG
redchief replied: Erin's going to collect names of other students who will support her claims in case the teacher tries to go the "her word against mine route."
Re: Jerry MacQuwire (sp?) - This teacher didn't simply allow the viewing of the movie; she showed it.
coasterqueen replied: wow, I'm speechless.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I probably wouldn't be so upset about the movie (I forgot what grade she is in though...high school right?), but the fact that she was so open about drug use and pretty much bragged about it would get me steaming. Teachers are role models and should act as such! It seemed like it wasn't even a case where she was saying "yeah I did this, and all this bad stuff happend so please never do it", like a life lesson in a way, but it wasn't anything like that. It's almost like she was acting their age instead of her own!
