Oh... My... Gosh. - Andrew's first big messy no-no.
~Roo'sMama~ wrote: Tonight after dinner, I was in the computer room and Dh was in the living room watching TV, and Andrew was kind of going back and forth between us playing by himself. Well at some point Andrew got up on the dining room table ~ we usually keep the chairs tipped over because he loves to climb up there and throw everything on the floor, but one of us had forgotten to tip one of the chairs over. Well, the paint for Allie's room was sitting on the table - one gallon of green paint and one gallon of pink pain, and Andrew pushed both cans on the floor. Dh and I came into the dining room at the same time to find a huge puddle of light green paint on the floor, and splattered on the wall and the bookshelf. Both of us just stood there in shock for a couple minutes, not knowing what to do. Andrew was sitting on the table pointing at the floor and saying "spill! spill!" Luckily the can of pink paint didn't open but the green can was half empty. We were so upset and shocked we almost mopped it all up with paper towels and wasted it but I realized just in time that we could scoop most of it back into the can and save some of it, so we have about 3/4 of a gallon left - we'll find out tomorrow if we'll need to buy more or not. If we do need more we shouldn't need a whole gallon, but I hope we don't need any more because we really can't spend more money on this! We still have to buy the wallpaper border for the room.
I got the floor cleaned up ok - I'm glad we have hardwood floors and not carpet! But I couldn't get the splatters off the wall and bookshelf. I wish I'd taken a picture, but I was in too much shock to think of it until we were almost done cleaning it up.
luvmykids replied: Oh NO! I'm glad you thought quick enough to salvage most of it. Thank goodness for hardwood floors! We haven't had any paint messes but it is one of my biggest fears and the reason we still have white walls, the baby powder incident was bad enough
CantWait replied: Oh Gosh, I can't even imagine that.
We had a baking powder incident and that was bad enough, I don't even want to think about wall paint.
JadensMama05 replied: Oh no! We haven't had any incidents yet.. luckily!
Oww I can definitely wait for that
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Oh, no!! That's a pretty big uh-oh. Quick thinking, Sara.
3xsthefun replied: Oh, no! It is a good thing you all did some quick thinking to save some of the paint!
mckayleesmom replied: Oh goodness......The kids have gotten into my stensil paint a few times....Try this stuff called GOO BE GONE.....They sell it at Walmart now....it helps with paint, candlewax, gum....You name it.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Oh that's a good idea, I've heard of that stuff. I'll have to get some to try on the cracks of the floor. For the wall and bookshelf we'll probably just have to sand them and re-paint them, because anything I try to use on them will just take off the original paint too.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh no!!!! I'm glad you got most of it up. I hope you won't have to buy any more paint!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: We ended up having plenty. It was the green paint that spilled, and we used that color for both the ceiling and the top half of the walls. (the bottom half is pink) I think we even have a little left over. The room isn't finished yet - we found out that the paint has to dry for 72 hours before we can put the wallpaper border on. We were planning on doing that tonight but I forgot to buy a new sponge for smoothing it out. Hopefully we'll get it done tomorrow and I can take some pics! Oh and we still need to prime and paint the closet pink ~ we forgot to do that part when we did the rest of the room.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh no!!! At least it wasn't poop smeared on the floors...yep, I've btdt!! Boys, boys, boys....
C&K*s Mommie replied: Yikes!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Ewww. I hope that never happens.
