Oh Ike....you have to stay away
Our Lil' Family wrote: Could this be a repeat of 2005? I surely hope not. Katrina and then Rita was just an awful hit for us in 2005, please tell me that will not happen again! My mom emailed me telling me to make reservations for this weekend in Memphis...I just cannot emotionally, and financially, handle evacuating and going through another hurricane so close together. Sorry Texas but this one has to go that way, we just barely have power back here, and some still don't....sorry I'm rambling, I do that when I'm nervous.
lisar replied: Sorry. It must be hard.
MommyToAshley replied:
Oh gosh, I'm sorry... that has got to be so rough. I felt so bad for everyone in the area when I saw the path it was going to take.
Sending lots of prayers that Ike turns around and goes back out to sea.
Kaitlin'smom replied: darn Ike, hope he settles down for you
luvmykids replied: My heart sank when they said it would head for the Gulf. Stay safe above all, and I'm praying for you guys
BAC'sMom replied: Thanks but no thanks girl. I hope he just dissolves after he hits the Gulf but I know that isn't going to happen. I am watching him too we are now in the cone. It scares the crap out of me. I am so afraid that all of those that evacuated last week will shrug off leaving and decide to stay. Which will be a total disaster.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: It looked like this morning that Ciba was taking some of the wind out of Ike's sails....Hopefully it will move slowly over land and play itself out!
A&A'smommy replied: I'm sorry sweet I REALLY hope it just fizzles out!!!
BAC'sMom replied: Naomi darling looks like you might be right.
youngmomofone replied: We moved to LA one day after Katrina, so we were here for Rita. I was in TX for Gustav but had moved my stuff to an apartment in LA right before it, and luckily the town I was in only had rain and no other issues. Now there might be another one so I may have to go back to TX within a week of fully moving, and im right with you when you say you financially cannot evacuate as I cannot either since it cost me a lot of money to make the move. Even if it hits Galveston we will get some serious weather as I am only 20 miles from the TX/LA border.
DillsMommy replied: Everyone, please stay safe. I can't imagine what it must be like to go through this. I can't stand even thunderstorms.
Our Lil' Family replied: Oh No....well, at least you'll be on the west side Jimmie! I wonder how much we'll see...that's pretty far from me, thankfully!
booey2 replied: Hi, just thought you may wanna know it seems like Ike is turning south a little.
BAC'sMom replied: Thanks! I saw that at 3am it seems I didn't get much sleep last night. If it turns south that makes me on the NE side which is the windy, rainy BAD side. Looks like I will be headed west in a few days if he keeps on the same track.
Our Lil' Family replied: Wow, I hadn't seen that last update. Sorry Jimmie....you can come here!!!!!!! I think Abbie is closer though. Good luck girl, I'll PM you my number so you can text me with updates as it gets closer!
BAC'sMom replied: They have canceled school for the rest of the week. According to the letter that was sent home they had a meeting today with the EOC and think there is a pending landfall in Corpus Christi. The cone has shifted once again and the computer models are all over the place. If it hits Corpus no point in going to SA because the weather will be terrible in SA as he moves inland. So as of right now I have no idea where we are going. I am just trying to keep a level head and keep the kids calm. They have heard all kinds of rumors at school and they are freaking out bigtime.
