OT How do you put a picture - with your name
Mom2_my3boys wrote: I noticed when people post or reply they can put a picture of their child there. Where do I go to do this? What a great idea! Erin edd 9-26 Zachary 9-12-02 Tyler 7-3-98
supermom replied: You can do it one of two ways - either with your Avitar (the pic to the left here) or in your signature (the one at the bottom of some posts).
Go to "My Controls" and then click on either 1) Edit Avitar Settings or 2) Edit Signature Info From there you can choose to either upload a pic or link to it if it's already posted on a website somewhere.
When you select your avitar, it can't be any bigger than 100 X 100 pixels. The board owners/users have asked to limit your signature pic to no bigger than 400 wide X 250 tall. If you need help resizing any of the pictures you would like to use, I would be glad to help - e-mail them to supermom@fament.com and I would be happy to resize them and e-mail them back to you so that you can upload them here.
TLCDad replied: Yep what Supermom said, although you can only upload avatars... You can not upload images in signatures --- you must usg the [img] button and link directly to an image on another website. And yes, to be kind to our modem (dialup) users please only use one image as your signature with a max viewable size of 400 pixels wide by 250 pixels tall. This is so that message threads do not load too slow for users on dialup and not to make people with small screens/resolutions needing to scroll so much.
MommyToAshley replied: Erin, Are you talking about a picture that is always there such as the avatar or signature picture? If so, then Supermom and TLCDad answered your question.
If you are talking about uploading a picture that pertains to a particular post and will only appear in the current message you are typing, that is different. When you type your message, if you scroll down, you will see a section called "file attachments" ... hit the browse button to find the picture on your computer that you want to upload in the message. Note... the file size is limited to 50KB, (I think), to be kind to modem users. Therefore, you may have to resize the photo first.
HTH!

taf2911 replied: Ok, I've been trying to resize a picture to use as my avitar. But the image gets all distorted when I change the size. Any suggestions?
supermom replied: What program are you using to resize your pic? There should be an option somewhere in the resize option for you to "Maintain Aspect Ratio" or something like that.....that is where you chose the height and it automatically sets the width (and doesn't make it distorted). The other option is for you to manually figure out the proper proportions so that it doesn't get distorted.
Or if you'd like just e-mail it to me and I'd be happy to resize it and e-mail it back - my e-mail is supermom@fament.com
TLCDad replied: Also make sure once you upload your pic to put in the right dimensions on the avatar upload screen. The board will default to 100x100 unless you change it which can stretch/squeeze your avatar. If I notice this on someones avatar I usually go in and fix it for them but I might miss one especially as we grow.... you can correct this even after you already uploaded just go back to the avatar page on your "my controls" and you can change the dimension (pixel) settings.
taf2911 replied: Yeah!! I finally figured out my new phot software! Thanks for the help guys. Now I can show off my little rascal too!
MommyToAshley replied: And, he's a cutie pie!!!!
TLCDad replied: Great picture! It looks like you have the pixel settings here set to 100x100 (the default) which makes the width look stretched a tad. I believe the correct dimensions might be 89x100. You can change this in your "mycontrols" in the avatar section. I can fix it for ya if you want or you can play with the settings and see which looks the best.
