OMG, what do I do? - Potty training.

PrairieMom wrote: I think Alexis is trying to potty train herself. ohmy.gif

Last night we were getting ready for bath and i was taking her diaper off. I said " wow baby, you have potty pants!" and she said POTTY! and ran for the bathroom, beat on the door until I opened it, ran to the toilet and started banging on the seat. So I sat her on it and started talking to her about going potty and all that. Well, DH dug out Ben's old potty chair and put it in the bathroom for her, and she was so excited. She kept sitting on it, then standing up, and sitting on it again. Then she peed on the floor. rolleyes.gif rolling_smile.gif

So this morning I was going to the bathroom and she said POTTY! so I said "you have to potty? " and helped her out of her diaper, and she sat on the potty chair again. then she stood up and peed on the floor. rolleyes.gif rolling_smile.gif

So, is my 16 1/2 month old daughter trying to potty train her self? OMG I am so not ready for that. It took me 18 months to PT Ben, and I don't want to tackle that again with a child that is so young, but, on the same hand, It would be nice to have her out of diapers! tongue.gif

PrairieMom replied: She just did it again. huh.gif

kimberley replied: kaleigh has been training for a few months now. she loves wearing "big girl pants" during the active part of her day and going potty like her big sis but still needs diapers at nap and sleep. i find younger siblings train earlier so they can be like their big bro/sis. encourage her but don't make too big a deal.

WTG Alexis!! horray.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I wish that was the case for my Megan. rolleyes.gif

A&A'smommy replied: wow WTG Alexis!!! thumb.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I would go for it! My friend's daughter PT at 18 months. Totally did it herself.

kimberley replied: sorry Karen sad.gif still no progress?

AlexsPajamaMama replied: wtg alexis!!

My2Beauties replied: thumb.gif Woo hoo! WTG Alexis! I'd say run with it if she seems interested but just don't push it because she's so young! That's awesome!

boyohboyohboy replied: WTG Alexis! so tara does that mean if she potty trains early then you will be thinking of baby number three?

PrairieMom replied:
ugh. The kids last weekend were so hard on DH that they set back all the progress I made in that arena. growl.gif

coasterqueen replied:
No, but her therapist said it has a lot to do with her sensory issues and so it may be a long time before we see her potty trained. So I know I just have to be patient. I just hope she trains before Pre-K next year or she won't be able to go, and they really want her to go for her SI.

BabyOwen427 replied: Owen is doing that same stuff too! He's 17 months and he's been doing it for a couple of weeks now. When we get ready for bathtime he looks down at his friend and watches himself pee. He's usually in the tub when he pees. He has peed on the floor a few times too. Or once I get him stripped for bath he takes off and runs thru the house naked and pees on the run tongue.gif As soon as we get the next paycheck we're getting our first potty chair. I have been using the proper words for pee and penis but he's not picking up on the words yet. Hopefully the potty chair will help with that too.

Good luck with your potty training! WTG Alexis!!

Makes me think of that movie, Look who's talking too!, where Mikey pees in the potty and they start singing. Pee pee in the potty! Pee pee in the potty! rolling_smile.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I'd say she's definitely interested!!

CantWait replied: That's great Tara, I'd definetly say she's interested. Good Luck. thumb.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Go ahead and let her do it but don't be suprised if she stops quickly. Lauren was pretty much trained but then she just stopped and was all about the pull ups. blink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: That's awesome Tara! Just keep taking her when she wants and see what happens. Make it fun for her and keep her excited about it! thumb.gif

bawoodsmall replied: Aiden is 17 months and banged on the potty and said potty the other day. I just figured he realized how to say potty. I did sit him up there though. May as well get him somewhat interested even though I have a feeling he will be like 8 because it was way to easy with Emily.

avory&samsmom replied: WTG for both of you! thumb.gif
