OMG, disrespect isn't just for politicians
MommyToAshley wrote: Did anyone see the VMA awards last night? I didn't watch it but I heard about it on the radio this morning. Apparently, when Taylor Swift won best female video, Kayne West stormed the stage, saying that Beyonce had the best video of all time... ruining the moment and the spot light for Taylor Swift.
However, I thought what Beyonce did was very classy, calling Taylor Swift back up on stage when she won the video of the year.
So, Kayne West ruined the moment for both ladies by his display of rudeness and disrespect, but like I said, Beyonce did a very classy thing.
You can see both videos where Kayne West stormed the stage and Beyonce called Taylor Swift back out on stage: http://k99online.com/blogs/hot_country_new...aylor-swif.html
PrairieMom replied: I suspect that this was staged. Wasn't this the same awards program where Borat ended up with his rear in emiem's face?
cameragirl21 replied: I thought what Beyonce did was great.
Kentuckychick replied: I don't know that it was staged at all... Kanye is known for being a royal... well... a**. And he proved it last night. He didn't exactly "storm" the stage, but he sure did take the moment away from Taylor.
He apologized on his blog or website or whatever later but it was not the greatest apology, basically, I feel like a butthead and I don't dislike Taylor, but Beyonce still deserved to win that award. I loved what Beyonce said when she called Taylor back up on stage, about remembering when she was 17 and at her first VMA's receiving her very first award... I can't imagine what a crappy feeling it would have been for someone to come up and steal the spotlight from you like that.
Boo&BugsMom replied: It was actually Andy Samberg who did that to Eminem I believe.
I didn't watch the show, but I heard about it and do not think it was staged. Kanye West is a self-centered jerk who cares only about what he thinks and his opinions. I also believe he was drinking heavily backstage.
MommyToAshley replied: If it was staged, Taylor Swift wasn't let in on it... or she's a very good actress as well.
I personally think he should not be invited to any more of the awards show.
TheOaf66 replied: he is just a douchebag who wanted to be on a highlight reel so it did that stupid crap
BAC'sMom replied: I honestly don’t think it was staged, Taylor looks too shocked and mortified. I read somewhere this morning that the VMA big wigs asked Kayne West to leave the awards show because so many people were upset in the audience.
DVFlyer replied: These primadonnas realize they are untouchable. Even if there is some sort of repercussion, it won't be anything more than a slap on the wrist.
If "Joe Citizen" jumped up on stage and grabbed a microphone from a celebrity, they'd still be in the hospital recovering from their wounds waiting to be thrown in prison after they heal.
Danalana replied: Stuff like this makes me glad I don't watch te VMA's
Celestrina replied: Same here.
Calimama replied: I don't think it was staged either. He's obnoxious.
bluebear replied: lol, that was at the mtv movie awards and that was staged, but only Sacha Baron Cohen and Eminem knew about it.
There have been events like that happening over the years at the VMA's. I remember in 2000 or maybe 1999 somebody climbed up on a statue that was on the side of the stage. Kanye West is a big baby. He's trying to change his music and trying to get more "out there" but he just makes things worse. "How could you be so heartless"
bluebear replied: Kanye West did get kicked out, but before he did a lot of artists gave him dirty looks. It's not like Beyonce didn't win any awards that night, she only won 3 of the same song and then performed it. I think part of it was out of anger that he didn't have his song win from the previous catagory. oh well, life isn't fair.
but anyway I don't even watch these awards anymore. The same groups kept winning awards. I miss the 90s when everything was different
My2Beauties replied: I don't think it was staged, this is a live show and something weird happens all the time on the VMA's. I'm sure he wouldn't "sign a deal" to purposely ruin his reputation, because I know some solid Kanye fans who are serously disappointed in him and have lost lots of respect for him over this. Myself included. He's a very talented artist, because he's so original and so different. I knew he was extremely conceited but most of them are, so hey I could look past that, but this was outright one of the rudest things I have ever seen anyone do. Not nice at all. Beyonce has so much class,I just love her! That was so wonderful of her to do.
mckayleesmom replied: Kanye will is and will always be a Tool. I don't see why anybody works with or continues to buy his music. ..
Also this isn't the first time that Kanye has taken over a stage like that...he did it at another show in another country...Can't remember which one but I read it somewhere last night.
Kanye needs to realize that people stopped caring about what he had to say a long time ago.

BAC'sMom replied: He was also the one that made the "George Bush doesn't care about black people." comment during the Katrina Benefit. That guy is a total a$$!
My2Beauties replied: A lot of artists said that though, he wasn't the only one.
coasterqueen replied: I agree.
MommyToAshley replied: I never really understood why stars think that because people go to see them for entertainment value that they should use their stage to express their political views. Just becasue people find them entertaining doesn't give them any more credit in the political arena.
I had actually forgotten about that comment. This reminds me of the other thread where someone said Bush haters were different because it wasn't racially motivated -- I guess this just goes to prove there are racist idiots on both sides of the fence. Luckily, they don't represent the majority of us.
BAC'sMom replied: Sorry I brought that up, I certainly wasn't trying to bring politics or race into this post.
MY point was that this is NOT the first time Kanye let his mouth overload his a$$!!
coasterqueen replied: Jimmie, That's how I thought you meant it too. There are NUMEROUS times he's put his foot in his mouth and said things he shouldn't. Not just political, not just racist, just about anything.
TheOaf66 replied: that was the guitarist from Rage Against the Machine
Last year Kid Rock and Tommy Lee got in a fight
BAC'sMom replied: Oh I know Karen. I just know that sometimes people get pissy around here when Bush's name is brought up so I was trying to nip it in the bud before the drama starts.
coasterqueen replied:
TheOaf66 replied: you got something bad to say about Bush, I take that personally and I shall not stand for it
sorry couldn't resist
My2Beauties replied: I think it's fine for them to do things like Rock the Vote and get people involved in the voting process, use their celebrity status for good. Which a lot of them did do. I also think they shoul be able to express their opinion about whatever candidate they like and why but to make a blanket statement saying Bush doesn't care about Black People when you're a celeb is opening up a can of worms nomatter what side of the fence you're on, it's just not something celebs should do. Katrina was awful in and of itself, instead of putting his anger about the situation into negative remarks he should have just simply helped out as much as he could by volunteering or sending money. But hey -comedians, actors, musical artists, news figures, the media period all have their own opinions and I guess are also able to freely speak them as the normal public is as well it's just opening up a can of worms as I said. I would personally refrain from such comments if I were a celeb and instead focus on how I could help rectify the situation! But like I said, he definitely wasnt the only artist to say things like that, Lil Wayne wrote 2 songs about the situation and blasted Bush in both of them and many artists did as well, not just African American artists came out and said those things either, don't want people to think it's solely black artists. He just stated it so matter of factly as did some other, but the majority said it by beating around the bush and not directly saying it but indirectly saying it.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I've had an issue with Kanye ever since I read that he doesn't read. Yeah, I can't support anyone being a "role model" if they tell children that reading is basically worthless.
Boo&BugsMom replied: He was the only one that had the nerve to say it on national television during a benefit show though that is watched by millions upon millions of people. An opinion is something everyone is entitled to have, and I'm sure there are others who might agree with him, but he took it to a whole other level. He thinks the world revolves around him, and he needs to get over himself.
