1lilpeanut2love wrote: Did anyone get one or know someone that did? They are SO expensive. They are going on Ebay for tons and tons of moula! $10,000 some of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ouch! Is it even worth it to spend that kind of money? wacko.gif

PS3 on Ebay!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Not us, I refuse to let Troy pay that much for something like that. He'll just have to be satisfied with his PS2! HA HA!

In Milwaukee a guy got trampled and hospitalized at one of the stores. These people are crazy that go out and camp out in the parking lots 2 days before! Somewhere on the east coast someone got shot over one. Ridiculous! Must be nice for these people to not have anything better to do! rolleyes.gif

cameragirl21 replied: my godson spends his whole life on his playstation. dry.gif
i'm not too big on video games but i know i've wasted hours of my life playing freecell.... tongue.gif

Calimama replied: That's nuts. We just got the PSP and my DH is already talking about the PS3.. I cant keep up. tongue.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: if only it was only 100$, I'd get one in a second. I love playing games when I have the time. Especially FF games... and other RPGs... my kids and I play DDR sometiemes. and my son likes to play a Spongebob game

Jamison'smama replied: Well the reviews I've heard say that the XBox is still a better machine.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: That is just plain nuts!! where do these people get that much money???

1lilpeanut2love replied:
I know it's SO crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rolleyes.gif wacko.gif blink.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: My son Rick is going to get one but he said he will wait awhile so they can get all the bugs worked out of first before he drops that kind of money on it.

SarahChick replied: Hi-

I'm new to this board and immediately came across this prescient thread. This issue is on my mind. My DH and son a becoming video game monsters and both want a PS3. Not anytime soon of course. I guess they're all sold out for now.

I have a hard time thinking negatively of it. We actually spend much time together because of it. They like the two-person games. I root while reading or some other hobby and sometimes play.

PrairieMom replied:
I like to play with my DH too. Esp the fighting games, where I can whoop his butt by pressing random buttons until he figures out each players "moves" rolling_smile.gif but good grief! I would have a hard time droping more than $50. for a system. and $15 for a game.

I know, I'm way cheap. rolleyes.gif

Richard_Cole replied: This dad's thinking about buying one. Also looking at the nintendo wii. Hoping they'll put some more out by x-mas. Gotta keep up with the Jetsons.

Richard_Cole replied:
For consoles, there's no way to go "cheap" unless you can find a used one. But games can be gotten for cheap. Some people buy them used or on ebay. I finally found a company called gamefly that sends them to you like netflix. Really cheap compared to buying them and they have every game known to man. I think. happy.gif It averages to about $10 a game.

Calimama replied:
Haha same here.. I always beat my DH in Ghost Recon which I think is the funniest thing ever since it's what he does for a living. rolling_smile.gif tongue.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I don't think anything negatively towards video games, unless it's the only form of play a child has. My son and hubby both play the PS2 together. I just wont spend that much money for something like that. The price tag is not nec. catered to the middle class type families who just scrape by. In about 4-5 years if the price goes down, I may look at them a little differently. I'd love to get one for hubby for Christmas, and I even brought it up (you should have SEEN the glossy look in his eyes! laugh.gif ), but there are quite a few families who can not afford that kind of thing, like us. I have way more things that are necessity that I need to buy for that kind of money!

SarahChick replied:
Yeah "ghost recon", Prairemom. We've played that. Recently we all played splinter cell (is that right?). Scary, stealthy stuff.

My dh and son were talking about gamefly in regards to the ps3. they said it would save money on games. since they won't have any after they buy it. what is it exactly?

gr33n3y3z replied: the Nintendo Wii looks nice also I like the games Nintendo puts out also

Richard_Cole replied: It's a company that rents video games to people. You basically sign up and pay a monthly fee. I pay $21.95 and they send you whatever games you want. They have thousands. It's a pretty slick system, more slick than I could go into in one post. But as far as affordability goes, I usually recieve and play a couple a month, sometimes more, so it works out to about $7-$10 a game.

When you finished playing, you drop them back in the mail and they send you the next one on your wish list, they call it your "game queue." I won't try to explain that. It's simple though. You just have to see it to understand it completely.

SarahChick replied:
I'll see what my husband says about this. I thought he was crazy but maybe he's on to something. Does any else here know about this? Used them. Heard of them?

PS gr33n3y3z: I like nintendo too. I remember them from way back.

gr33n3y3z replied: I think I play the Game cube more then the PS2 lol

I can play my gameboy games on there bc I bought the attachment for it so I like that.

redplaydoh replied: What??? That much??? They are crazy!!

CantWait replied: Yeah, I wished I had been able to line up to get one and resell it. tongue.gif

PrairieMom replied: We still have a regular old play station. I remember when they came out and were the "hot new thing" Dh and I were dating. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif it works good enough for me. we play Tekken and battle arena toshinden, and I whoop him every time. laugh.gif My all time fave is Tetris, and you really don't need awesome graphics and all that to enjoy that one! laugh.gif

My2Beauties replied: People were camping out here 5 days ahead of time for a shot at getting one, some stories only got like 10 PS3's in and hundreds of people were in line trying to get one wacko.gif Personally I would never spend that much on a video game system, by next year the price will drop dramatically and something new will come along....I'm so glad DH isn't into video games.

1lilpeanut2love replied:
dito.gif!!!!!!!!!!!!! tongue.gif LOL! emlaugh.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: My BF had me driving all over the place last night at midnight but people had been camped out all week everywhere we went. Supposedly Sony only released 300,000 until January 1st, I don't get why - maybe to build up such a demand when they release more next year everyone will want one???

My3LilMonkeys replied: Nope...DH wants one but I want the Nintendo Wii. You will be able to download old NES and Super NES games for it for something like $5-8 bucks each - my favorites are still the classic Super Mario Brothers 3 and Yoshi's world!!

Actually, my DH would love to have both - he's a video game nut. At some point in the last 5 years we have owned every video game system available from the Atari all the way up to the XBox 360 (most of them he got broken, fixed and sold...but he always kept them for a few months first to "make sure they worked right" rolling_smile.gif ) and of all of them the SNES is still my favorite, closely followed by the Gamecube.

mom2my2cuties replied:
Because Sony is on the verge of Bankruptcy - and this is thier last effort to keep afloat...If PS3 tanks, they are pretty much done.

mom2my2cuties replied:
Gamefly is actaully a REALLY bad program from my personal experience...In 4 months of having them I was on a pretty steady rotation - Got a game, played it over a couple days sent it back, well most of the games came so damaged that I couldn't play it, and because I complained about it on several games, they claimed I damaged them and tried charging my credit card

MyLuvBugs replied: DH Works at wal-mart and said they only got 6 in, but people were standing outside of walmart in tents and sleeping bags for two days before hand just to get those 6 PS3's. rolleyes.gif I can't even imagine b/c it's been getting into the low 20's here at night! ohmy.gif But he said they RAN through the store and all 6 were gone in 5 minutes. blink.gif 3 were purchased by the same couple, and they will probably sell them on ebay and make a fortune! wacko.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Neither myself, nor Chris are big-time gamers. He would like to own a PS one day and is always talking about getting one (PS2 or now the PS3) or even the X-box, but it is not a priority. He had one of those handheld PSP's (I think) and resold it since he seldom had time to spend playing it at the time.

To each his own, I personally would not spend days camping out to get my hands on one unless I planned to resell it for a big profit. Unless I had to have it evident of some people already. By years end they will have plenty in stores so if I were a mild gamer I would wait.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: There is no way we would ever spend that much money on a game system. wacko.gif Dh wants a Nintendo Wii but I think even those are too expensive - especially since we hardly ever use our Gamecube! rolleyes.gif Maybe if we had tons of extra dough rolling around, but for now, not a chance! tongue.gif

flirtycuddle replied: Sony only released 400,000 at the time. But on the fox news here yesterday they had teh head guy of sony on saying they are hoping to ship over a million more systems by yrs end. Don't know if they will actually do it or not but that is what they are hoping for. What some people didn't know is that unlike the ps2 where u could play ps1 games you can't play anything but ps3 games on it. They are supposed to have a fix out in a few months but till then you have to buy all new games lol

I am acutally buying my df a Nintendo Wii for Xmas if I get the money from my accident in time. He would rather have that then the ps3 due to the fact is 1/3 the price and you can download all the old games from online and play on the system.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Man, this is so completely nuts. People camping out, getting shot. What is wrong with people? I can't justify spending that kind of money on a game console. Especially one that isn't back compatible with previous systems. Aaron is a huge gamer, but we've never bought a system the first year it was out.

sparkys2boys replied: CRAZY!!!! That's alot of money for a game system... kids.. your not getting one any day soon!!! And no Santa can't fit one in his sleigh..lol

McKenna replied: I wouldnt rush out to buy one of these consoles at all, within a year of it coming out the price will most likely be down to 3/4 or even 1/2of release price.

My bro bought his Xbox original bran ne for £300+. i bought it a coupleof years later for £120 lol, and had the advantage that good games were there to buy, at release there were only 2 decent games.

And after a quick look around the same is set to happen for the PS3, most of the really looked forward to games will not be available when the PS3 is released, it's just not worth it buying a console brand new, althouh once again my brother is.

I'd wait at least a year before purchasing a new console, by then any manufacturing/hardware problems will have been realised and fixed.

TheOaf66 replied:
I am quite happy with my PS2 for right now. Maybe sometime down the road if we ever get some extra money ( laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif ) I will get one but for right now PS2 is all I need, just need some new games for it.

holley79 replied: They were camping out here for them also. It is just plain nuts. I refuse to spend that kind of money on something so stupid. It's just like the Xbox 360, wait till after Christmas and it will be on the sh dry.gif elves.

A&A'smommy replied: we are selling two if anyone is interested!! we preordered ours I think its ridiculous to camp out for them rolleyes.gif

jcc64 replied: It's all a well orchestrated shortage, planned by Sony to create a "must have" hysteria, and people predictably fall into line like the sheep that they are.

A&A'smommy replied:
ROFL no joke though!!!

lisar replied: Yea I was looking at them on E-bay. There is no way I will ever pay that much for one. They are on there for like $1200.00. I seen it on the news where people were waiting in a line all night to get one. Not me...

TheOaf66 replied:
Tickle me Elmo was the same way remember

AngieS replied: mom2my2cuties,

Wow that is a total bummer. Do you still have the account? Did you complain to customer service? I just signed up with them and no problems thus far. My ex bought my son a playstation3 so I had to try to outdo him without breaking he bank by buying him a video subscription. I have to learn that I do not need to compete with my ex.

PS, I am just starting to get used to the idea of having a video game player in the house. I fear overuse and lack of exercise around the corner for my son.

grapfruit replied:
emlaugh.gif I LOVE Ghost Recon!!!!
