OMG OMG Jennas Daycare on the news!!!!!!
mummy2girls wrote: OMG guys im so upset right now... I had dropped jenna off at daycare and left for work this morning. I was listening to the news on the radio and this story comes on.....
Southside Daycare Centre...the staff had locked up and left for the night leaving a 6 month old trapped inside! The mom came at 6:05 to get her child(she was running late) and noticed the centre closed and all lights shut off...the centre is located at....when they announced the address my jaw dropped and my heart started beating so fast and i satrted to bawl! ITs Jennas daycare!!!!!!
I guess what happened is this child was put down in a crib because he fell asleep at around 530. And when the staff did a sweep of the centre they missed him...how i have no idea. They are saying because he was sleeping no one could hear him so they figured he was gone! No one could get a hold of the owner of the centre and finally at 9pm she was located and she came to unlock the child!!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!And to top it off this child is asthmatic so this child was crying for nearly 3 hours. he was found in a crib in a puddle of mucus. And he could of had a asthmatic attack and died! And this mom is a single mom so this is the very first time she put her child in daycare and the very first day she put him in... OMG!!!!!!!
I have been so fricken depressed and everything... I cant believe this happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mammag replied: OMG! Poor, Poor Baby!!! That is so heartbreaking!
3forme replied: OMG! Did child protective services get involved? How scary for that mom! And that poor baby!
Are you going to look somewhere else for daycare or do you think this was just a one time incident?
SCARY!
A&A'smommy replied: OMG OMG OMG that poor mother and baby!!!
mummy2girls replied: yes they are involved and still investigateing.
loveydad replied: OMG that's so freaky, that JUST happened here in Idaho!!
I mean like 3 weeks ago or something there was a tiny baby left inside a daycare, the staff left him and the mom came to get him, there was no one there and the place was locked up!
That's weird that it happened in both our states at the same time! And sad!
moped replied: I live in Calgary and it was on our news - UNREAL......................I was sooo sick about it
What is going to happen?
Jamison'smama replied: Okay, at 6:10, if they hadn't found the owner I would have insisted the police break into the center--3 hours, OMG!!!
mummy2girls replied: well i know social services is investigating atill and will be involved next week!
Im not sure what else is going to happen... We will find out soon...
mom21kid2dogs replied: It it was my kid I'd break the flippin' window and get my kid the heck outta there. NO WAY would my kid be locked in anything screaming for 3 hours. Poor baby!
mummy2girls replied: I know thats what my mom said... She doesnt understand why the police didnt just smash in a window... And she said if it was her she would be throwing a rock in the window to get the baby out!
MomToMany replied: That poor, poor child!! 3 friggin' HOURS????? That's ridiculous!! I hope you aren't going to bring Jenna back there.
That owner should be put in jail for that! There's no excuse for that!! If they did a check, shouldn't that have included beds/cribs? Obviously not!!
Poor child will be scarred for life from all that crying!
mummy2girls replied: I know! The owner had left at 530... so that was a big mistake! Its unreal and very sad..im still shaking....
~Roo'sMama~ replied: OMG that poor baby!!! I'm glad he's ok!
MommyToAshley replied: That poor little baby! I am glad he is ok. I can't believe that they didnt get the police involved.
Mommy2Be replied: OMG OMG OMG OMG That poor baby I can't believe that happened . I have very chronic Asthma and I have since I was very young. That is a very scary thing. This really hit the core with me . Gracie's daycare would have never let that happen I mean OMG . I just hope that little baby is doing okay and continues to do well . I'm sorry but that really hit the wrong nerve with me .
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG that poor baby! How awful! I like many of the others can't understand why the police just didn't break into the Daycare. That is just so awful!
mom89 replied: OMG! How scary!! Poor baby..poor thing crying all that time. Glad he's "ok".
amynicole21 replied: OMG!!!! Don't they have a "pick-up" sheet they have to fill out? I know every kid has to be accounted for at Sophia's daycare, and they note the time and person who picks them up. That poor baby Makes me want to go and get my director's cell phone # just in case
texasp3 replied: I was reading this to DH at 2 in the morning (I couldn't sleep.. and he's on west coast time so it was only midnight for him) ... niether one of us could believe that ANYONE would wait three hours to get into a building to get their kid. I read him the article too, where the mother said 911 told her to wait till 7pm. He said "Screw 911, I would have broken a window if I thought Gabriel was in there." We agreed that we wouldn't have waited for the cops or the daycare director or anyone... we'd pay for the damages later if need be, but we would have gotten to our kid immediately!
This is a shocking story - even MORE shocking that a similar thing happed in Idaho just a few weeks ago. Of course, here in Texas we CONSTANTLY get stories of babies and toddlers who DIE because they were left in daycare vans after an outing. "Gee, I guess we just didn't see him/her." OMG... literally, multiple incidents EVERY friggin' summer.
It just sounds so odd though... WHY the 3 hour wait??? I have a nagging feeling we don't know the whole story. What were the cops doing, for crying out loud. It's just STRANGE. The mom is young, and a first time mother and first time daycare user... I can ALMOST understand her not knowing quite what to do - especially if the authorities were telling her to be patient... or whatever the heck it was they were saying.
Anyway... I'm so glad the baby is okay.. I'm sure he will recover MUCH faster than that poor Mom!!!!!
Lollie replied: Awww..poor baby!How scary!!!
Im just glad that the baby is ok...lets hope nothing like this will happen there again!Im sure they will be extra cautious now..
Josie83 replied: That is so scary. Its unbelievable how things like that can happen xx
kimberley replied: OMG! that is unthinkable! poor child and his mother!!!! i am so glad he is okay but i bet they are both scarred for life!
the only logical reason i can think that they didn't smash the door or window right away is because they weren't certain the child was inside because they mentioned mom trying to call hospitals etc. BUT STILL, 3 HOURS?! when i worked in a daycare, our infant room had the infant cribs around a corner and we always checked them. i also had one of the worker's home phone number at my boys' daycare just in case. gosh, i hope someone pays dearly for that!
3xsthefun replied: OMG Poor Baby!! I'm glad he is ok!
chloe&tysmommy replied: OMG! I heard this on the news yesterday and my heart just broke for that poor little baby!!!! The poor mother must have been a nervous wreck!!!!
Glad Jenna was alright!!!
Geesh, how could you overlook something like a 6 month old child I don't think I would have waited for someone to open the door...I would have broke my way in!!!
mummy2girls replied: they did get the police. they were the ifrst to arrive on scene
mummy2girls replied: yes you sign when you drop them off and then sign when you picl up them... and the director did give out her cell but this mom didnt have it with her at the time. So the director will be posting her cell phone # on the window...
mummy2girls replied: The mom lives in the same apartment building as my parents... My parents saw her with her little one:(
ctymom replied: The baby was in there for 3 hours?? If I thought for a second my baby was in there, the doors would have been knocked in. I can't believe 911 said to wait until 7?? Sorry, but that door would have been down in an instant. That would have gotten 911 down there quick.
Poor baby
Pamela
mummy2girls replied: I know... in the paper it said the owner wished that someone would of smashed n the window or door to get that child out! Im reading the paper and just sickened because she phoned around 618 to 911 and they said to wait till 7 and then if someone still hasnt come to get him out to call back..WHAT!!!!!!!!! and then she called back and finally at 745 a police decided to show up!!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!
And then finally the owner was located and unlocked the door near 9 pm.... Im still in shosk! Our whole police and 911 system really SUCKED that evening.
And the 911 operator and police didnt realize it was a baby with asthma. they figured it was a child... So a child is not as much of a priority as a baby!!!!!!!! Im still sickened!
Allyson&Patrick'sMom replied: Yeah, I would be looking for a new center....sad for the baby and the mother.....I would be more scared for the baby though, how scary it is to not see anybody after crying for so long. As a Mom...I would have smashed windows in to get to my babies....and told them to shove the window bill up thier butts! (in not such nice wording)
texasp3 replied: Jenna - ITA - it's sounds like the more the police and other authorities make excuses the WORSE they end up sounding. They should just admit they made a HORRIBLE mistake and I, for one, would be a little less likely to keep fantasizing about lynch mobs.
And about them waiting because they thought it was a "child" .... HELLO!!!????? That could have been SO MUCH WORSE because what if the child climbed out of the crib and fell, or crawled/walked around and got into something really dangerous. Can you image a toddler on the loose for three hours... the tragic situations that could have come out of that??
The more I hear about this story the angrier I get. They can thank they're lucky stars I wasn't the Mom because my lawyers would be so far up their butts by now, they wouldn't be sitting down for years!
ediep replied: I am literally sickened by this...really, I and sick to my stomach after reading this. I am truly heartbroken for that poor baby and that frantic mother. Thanks God the baby was ok, but that mother will never forget that happened
Mommy2BAK replied: *Feeling ver confused*
Okay~ why in the world would you just sit there and wait for someone to give you the okay to go get your baby? They better be so glad that wasn't me and my daughter or I would have them in jail!! The police around here are really good at protecting women and children, thank goodness. I just cannot imagine. That poor, poor baby. That is just awful. But I really hate to point the finger at that new mom, because really the fault was on the daycare!!!! But I do think the mom should have done something, especially since her baby has asthma, and could have died!!!!!!!! I mean, COME ON!
So what are you going to do? Are you going to leave Jenna there or take her to a new daycare?
momof2girls replied: I was thinking the same thing!!! Uh Hello!!!!! I would have broken the window myself!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: OMG how horribel Shelly I hope you find something better for her and ASAP
and I so woul dhave broken in if the ower was not found in 20 minutes espically if I could hear my child cring...that is so horrible
