OMG! Jenna's Daycare is on the news.... - She is out of there!

I called my mom at work wround 5pm and asked her to check about some things at the daycare! And she said to me that the news channels were out side the daycare AGAIN! And then she heard on the radio in her store that the daycare is getting closed and the liscence pulled! i called the centre and talked to the owner. and this is what happened.... 2 staff members had taken the toddlers out into the fenced play area in the afternoon! they were out for about 15 minutes and then went back in...BUT they left a 20 month old outside! The staff had no idea they left a child (HOW I DONT KNOW!!!!!!) outside. so they went on with thier buisiness! The lanlord of the apartment building(where my parents live) next to the centre was outside doing something and he heard crying coming from that play area. He jumped the fence and saw this little boy laying in the snow and ice cold...he couldnt get up on his own. His face was turning blue and was so upset. The lanord then brought the child to the centre and then thatw hen they realized what they had done. So the landlord then called and reported the centre. They came and pulled the liscnence. When i talked to the owner she didnt tell me how the news found out and how the child was found. My dad talked to the lanlord what the lanlord told him my dad told me. Thats hw i found out!

I am crying and sick to my tummy right now! That could of been jenna! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! So i ghot my mom to get jenna from the centre and i knew she would be bonbarded by reporters so i quickly tried to get down to the centre and the journal newspaper and the news came to me and snapped pics of me and jenna. and i am going to be probably on the news! I am so cikened by this!!!!!!!!I am such a bad mom for doing this and not yanking her out the first time!

So tomorrow aron is taking jenna to his place for the day and then on monday wednesday and thrusday of next week jen is going to work with me and then tuesday my mom is watching jenna for me. I get friday off and then the next week i get off for a week so im looking for a new centre! I am so sickened by this!!!!!!!

That is so sad... poor little boy..... I would be sueing the center if taht was my boy....

Some people... I swear.... if they are fergetful, then they shouldn't work with little kids like that..... that makes me mad that they would hier people like that......

No i don't ... Im looking around for centres and man am i going to do a big catious look at them.... This is so sad..Im still shaking and sick to my stomach!

Don't beat yourself up for not taking her out before you had no way of knowing this could happen - after all they did fire the girl who was responsible for the last time so it should have been fine. I hope you can find a good daycare for Jenna soon!

Henry told me he went and job shadowed a daycare with kids from 4 months (at the time I think they took earlier but she was the youngest for then) through 15 months. THey took all the kids - either 5-6 of othem outside, including two babies, and they NEVER lost track of one of them for a minute! That's just bad daycare!

Boys r us replied: OMG!! There just really is NO excuse for that! NONE! and you'd think on the heels of a problem like they just had that they would be exercising extreme caution and making sure they knew where all kids are at all times.

texasp3 replied: OMG.. they just can't learn, can they???! You must be so upset, I know I would be. And I'd be beating myself up too... but honestly, that first incident could have been an isolated occurance that was the fault of one person. And didn't you say they let that staff person go? I don't know, I might have been inclined to think that daycare was the SAFEST place around, thinking they would have learned their lesson.

I'm just glad nothing truly tragic had to happen before they're being closed down. I'll keep you in my thoughts and you look for a new place - I know it can be tough finding a good one!

ammommy replied: OMG! Can't they count? I sub at the Mom's Day out program and when we take kids anywhere we count and recount heads constanly. I'm gald Jenna is OK and good luck finding a new centre.
