OMG! I just noticed something! - and Dh is gonna be upset
coasterqueen wrote: I just looked at the postcard that was sent to us regarding our pictures at the Church tonight and it says we need to allow for an hour being there for photos. It mentioned getting to see all our pics on video and such as well as the free 8 x 10.
I'm SUCH a dork! They are going to try to get us to buy a package, aren't they? We are so broke right now and can't, can't charge on the credit card. So I'm going to go in there, let them take my pic for an hour and then say "thanks for the free 8x10"?????
Dh is going to be so peeved at me because he didn't want to even do them. He told me it was for the church directory and we've never done it before and I figured we probably should. So I honestly thought that was all it was for and they were being kind enough to give us a free 8x10 in the process. How stupid can I be?
Now I wish I could cancel.
mammag replied: AHH!!! That is exactly what happened to me! I ended up spending over $200 and then got pg and still haven't hung them up and don't want to now that there's another family member.
You really can just get the free one. Just don't let them pressure you. Plenty of people at my church didn't buy any.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I went and did this something ..
Well my MIL went..and they picked out the pics and watched them on the digital camera..
But she didnt have to pay for them until she picked them up.. She knew which ones and how much but didn't pay for them until she got them..
They did the old time pics..like this one..
This is the wallet of my neice sry about the bad condition
Jamison'smama replied: Is it Lifetouch Portraits by any chance? They do a lot of church photography and that's who did ours--they also told us to allow for an hour--didn't take that long--well the wait did.
We were photographed by an old man who couldn't get Jamison to smile---then we were taken to a room and saw our pics on a computer and chose the one we wanted for the directory and our free 8x10, we were given a proof sheet and we just said we would think about what we wanted and call if we decided to order some--HATED the pictures and didn't order any. No high pressure--if it's LifeTouch, they are the same people who do JC Penney's pictures and for twice the price.
Gosh, I almost posted our picture on here but looked at it again and just couldn't---hope your turn out great!!
coasterqueen replied: No the postcard really doesn't say who it is. I just looked at it and way down in the very corner is tiny tiny writing and it says Olan Mills. I sure hope they will just let us think about it because we really can't afford it.
Oh, how embarassing!
3_call_me_mama replied: Yup they are going to try to get you to buy, but you are not obligated. On a moe positive note, Olan Mills takes beautiful pictures. They are pricey but they come out awsome (at least in our experience) we have Olin Mills in our Kmarts, i would wait for your free one and tell them you hadn't planned on purchasing any, you were just there to do the directory. Also if you like how they came out you could tell them you woudl be willing to scheduel with them at another time. That way you aren't seeming liek you don't liek the pics, but just that you really hadn't intended to spend $$ on family pics right now.
mammag replied: You know, I have found in these situations the best thing is to be up front and just say "I really like them but I just don't have it in the budget right now at all" I find it tends to stop them from trying to pressure you and they don't feel bad because they don't get the impression that you don't like their work. Ya know?
Ours of the kids turned out cute but I didn't like me in any of them so I still don't know why I bought them. It was Lifetouch also....
gr33n3y3z replied: Yep they are going to say oh look you all look wonderful your kids are the best Oh you dont want them Its ashame they will go in the trash or burn them
Thats what they will do
been there and done it
amymom replied: The church directory is nice tohave. But again, as someone said --"It is not in the budget right now" should work. Don't be embarressed.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: My old church always had someone like that come do the directories and they'd always try to get you to buy extra picturs but you definitely don't have to. My mom usually only got the free 8x10.
kimberley replied: i agree. don't feel bad. "not in the budget" is my fav phrase lately
coasterqueen replied: Well I went in there saying to myself I wasn't going to cave and Dh kept reminding me we couldn't buy any. BUT there was this one pic of Megan that was just toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo darn cute to pass up. So I said I'd buy it. Well then the lady convinced me to buy one of Kylie too. She played on my mind, man! She was like "oh, you are only going to get one of only one of your children, how sad for the other one". Dh was off chasing the girls so I caved and CHARGED $50 for two pics.
I am so weak. I felt like a loser the whole way home All the pics of me were horrible so that wasn't an issue. Our free 8x10 was our family pic and it was gosh awful. BLAH!
Edit for spelling.
mckayleesmom replied: Don't feel bad...I got suckered into buying 75 dollars worth of pics from WALMART ...I just went there out of convenience...I don't even spend that much at Jcpenny where I normally get them done...
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Same here, Bri!!! I hate Wal Mart. I'll never go back!
Don't feel bad, Karen. It happens to all of us! Pictures are priceless to me. Just dont' think about it anymore. I can't wait to see them. I bet they are GREAT!
MommyToAshley replied: Don't beat yourself up. I am the same way whenever I get Ashley's picture taken. I always end up buying way more than I intended. I start to feel guilty after giving up the cash, but then I remember that Ashley will never be this age again and as Aimee said, the pictures are priceless. When you start to forget all the little things, including how they smiled at this age, you'll have these wonderful pictures to look back upon. Well spent $50 in my opinion.
