My baby does not have spina bifada but there is a big reason why my levels were really high...Im not having a baby im having 2 babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes its true i am having indentical twins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! I sat there asking how can this be because when i went in for my first u/s when i was a few weeks preggo they said only 1 baby. well the only reasoning he could come up with is this baby was hiding behind the other baby!!!!!!!!!!! And the person that gave the u/s must have been blind i said!!!! we all laughed. I guess with multiples you can get high levels in the afp tests. I completely forgot that could happen. And you call me a nurse. DUH! Anyways i am expecting 2 babies June 3rd 2004.YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im still in shock..hubby almost passed out he was so shocked. he ran back to work but i think his mind will be elsewhere.LOL.He is scared though being a doc and he sees first hand how early you can deliver twins as do i. Im keeping faith ill be ok. and i am having to talk to the hospital on when i have to take maternity leave.

momtobe replied: That is cute. Ill have to sit down with hubby when he gets off work... but i am going to go now. I need to calm down and take a nice bath... anyone want to come live with me to help take care of 2 infants? OMG!!! maby ill have to get a mothers helper. I know my hubby is taken a few weeks off work to help but after that i am alone! He wroks so many wierd shifts and sometimes i dont see him for 3 days straight! Because at times he crashes at the hospital in the doctors room they have....HO HUM! anyways..im off to have my bath. Ill post later tonight! Im so excited!

Kaitlin'smom replied: wow the first twins here....I probably would have passed out if they told me that! We have some twins in our family history so it was always a possiblit for me I was glad I did not, I do think it would be fun to have twins just a lot of work! Oh I cant waite to met them!
Enjoy your bath get through the holidays and then start planning! I like the idea of telling your family if you have not already on Christmas....something like we are expanding the family and when the look dumbfounded you tell them it twins!

I had twins with my eldest DS but the twin vanished. After some research it is a very common thing. 1 in 8 pregnancies begins with twins but only a percentage end with twins at full term.
Wowza wowza! You know, I have a dating u/s next week and this is my biggest fear b/c it will be our last pregnancy. But God doesn't give you what you can't handle. I am a firm believer in that.
I have two boards in addition to this one where I post and there are a total of three moms I know with twins. Well, the third is expecting twins in the same month as you! If you'd like to talk with her I bet she'd love to keep in touch with someone in her shoes and I could tell you where you can find her.
Lots of congrats to you! I bet DH wanted to crap his pants! LOL.
