OK my children need some therapy
luvmykids wrote: Especially Macie They have been collecting reptiles for a few days now and I just busted her trying to bring a baby snake in the house.....BAD IDEA after Colt snuck up on me with one while I was vacuuming
I can't figure out how my sweet baby girl turned into a snake lover who let her brother put one in her hair
Right now in the big rubber feeder they have nine lizards and three baby snakes I can't even go out my back door knowing they're there
~Roo'sMama~ replied: EWWW! Oh I hope my kids never bring snakes in my house! Sorry you're being invaded by reptiles!
cameragirl21 replied: where do they get the snakes? Do you have snakes around your yard? We have lots of lizards here, I am used to them but I have never thought about catching them and Idk how easy it would be...how are your kids catching these animals and what are they going to feed them? When I was little I loved bugs, bees, caterpillars and insects of all sorts. I used to always catch and collect those. I also caught baby frogs and kept them, as well as lightning bugs. In Ohio we didn't have snakes and lizards around but if we did, I'm sure I too would have been all over them. Good thing baby snakes aren't hovered over by mama snakes...or are they...? If so, I'd say that could be a bigger problem for you.
jacobsmama replied: hahahaahaha
That is hilarious!
Snakes..........EEEEK.
Jacob chases me with worms, I hate them LOL
Cece00 replied: THANK GOD my children do not like snakes & like 99% of bugs.
luvmykids replied: Yup, we have them all over....we live out in the country and our "yard" is 15 acres of long grass, boulders, bushes etc where snakes seem to like to live They're not feeding them anything because they're just playing with them and will let them go later. And lizards are easy to catch, if you're quick
Macie and the baby king snake

The baby garter

One of the lizards, looks like it's a baby too
cameragirl21 replied: Those snakes are very pretty, especially that king snake, it looks like a coral snake and they are very poisonous. Do you have any poisonous snakes in your yard? And wow, 15 acres...I'm jealous but it must take all day to mow. The kids must be having so much fun with those animals, I am jealous, seriously, I want to play too...!
A&A'smommy replied: yikes I would be NUTS if I had to live where you live!!!! Those are great pictures though

Boys r us replied: Okay..so I couldn't read the rest of the responses past your reply to Jennifer b/c THANK GOD I noticed the caption of a pic you posted of Macie with the snake...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I seriously would have been up all night had I seen that pic! LOL I have the worst irrational fear of snakes. I know it's not normal, the level of fear I have for them..but I can't help it. I can't even look at animated pics of them in a book! Therefore, at the risk of accidentally seeing that pic...I won't be rechecking this thread for future replies..LOL! but let me just tell ya, if one of my kids brought a snake in the house I would probably have a coronary and die on the spot! You're a much better mama than I! At our new house, it's located on land that used to be just a big field and we have a pond in our front yard..HELLO SNAKE HEAVEN! So..even though I am NOT a cat lover...we're gonna get 3 outside cats to hopefully keep the snakes at least away from the house so I don't have to build a big beautiful house and then move b/c I saw a snake in my yard!
luvmykids replied: ROFL..that is SO me Seriously, before I even have a chance to try to calm down I puke and then cry The land we want to buy in GA has a pond on it, and there are water mocassins around and I'm already chickening out on living there I'd love to get a cat but it would never survive Bogie Thank goodness for Colt, there was a bull snake in the garage last year and he was my hero and put it in a garbage can for me until DH got home. But since you probably won't check back you won't even see this
Jennifer, there is a saying about the king vs coral snakes....Red touching black, you're ok Jack...red touching yellow, you're a dead fellow. And yes, we do have poisonous snakes, rattlesnakes. Rumor has it that Bull snakes kill them, I don't know how true it is but I like to believe it And the kids don't do this kind of collecting unsupervised by DH We don't have to mow either, we just let a horse or two out
As much as I HATE the snakes, it's great for the kids...we have lots and lots of fun out here
Boys r us replied: Okay..I did check back..but as soon as the page came up, I didn't scroll down..I just clicked add reply at the top of the page and scrolled down just enough to read your last response to me..lol..now when I'm done..I'll hit add real quick and hit the back arrow a few times as fast as I can! Ahh I am pathetic! Anyways..I likely would have had the same puking and crying reaction..then I'd skin me a little boy! We have rattle snakes here and copperheads. Dh said he saw a couple of black snakes at our new property..I suppose the only good news that brings supposedly they keep away the poisenous ones..but seriously, the only good snake is a dead snake and you can rest assured I'll be nowhere NEAR the pond..EVER! I can't say I'd like to look out my window and see my kid playing with a snake or collecting them..but I would like them to not be afraid of them the way I am because it's actually a terrible thing that stops me from doing a lot of things. Like once I saw a tv show about a man who got bit by a snake when he took the garbage out..so now I won't go near the garbage cans. I won't go on hikes in the woods. I always cut the flood lights on outside at night and look around before I go outside at night. I have to force myself to go out in my flower beds to care for them for fear of a snake hiding in a bush!!! Ughghh it really controls me when we're outisde, it's kinda sad! okay..here I go..reply then back arrow as fast as I can ..
luvmykids replied: Well in a sick way I am very happy to hear this about you because I'm the same way....I won't work in the flowerbeds without poking every few inches with a rake, won't go outside at night because someone once said they hide out during the daytime heat and come out at night, etc. The only good thing is because of the dogs and horses I honestly don't think they come too, too close to the house although last year there was one lying under the lilac bush right outside my back door But honestly, the kids have to go out a little ways to find these suckers, thank goodness.
When we were in GA I had a terrible time at the lake because I was terrified for the kids to be in the water And I took a drop at the golf course on my best scoring round ever because my ball landed by a pond and I wouldn't even try to hit it because I was SURE there was a snake right there
eta: Taking those pics was actually pretty good for me, thank goodness for super zoom Although I was jumpy the whole time and have been ever since...a dandelion tickled my foot and DH said I jumped about 10 feet high
