OK, I'm ticked off - so they'd better watch out tomorrow....

supermom wrote: Well, we are taking Anders to the hospital in the AM to get some dental work done under general anesthesia. The hospital called today to get some general health history from him, but of course we weren't home. By the time I called back, no one was there to do it, but I still wanted to ask some questions about procedure and about making sure it wouldn't be a problem to bring Emily with me.....

I explained to them that I would be bringing my 3 mo old daughter because she was nursing, and I had never had to pump for a bottle and I didn't feel that I should need to get a sitter for tomorrow since we were, in fact, going to the children's section. The nurse that I talked to was saying yes, that she would be able to be in the waiting room, might be able to be in the "secondary" recovery, and that there was a playroom where I could go to nurse "for privacy". I told her that I was extremely comfortable BF in public, so that shouldn't be a problem, as we just nurse wherever necessary. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS WOMAN SAID? She suggested that *I* might offend others in the waiting room.

Well, needless to say, I told her that if they were offended that they certainly had every right to get up and leave......I don't think she was too happy with me. But that is just too bad - and just let them try to tell me that I can't nurse in there tomorrow if anyone says anything. I think my DH is kind of worried that I will raise a big stink, and he's right, I will...........

Man, I am still fuming and this conversation happened hours ago......but I will let y'all know tomorrow who I had to tell off - ROFLMBO!!!

kimberley replied: ohmy.gif smash.gif smash.gif smash.gif i cannot believe that garbage would come out of a nurse's mouth!!! i stand behind you 100%, you give her the "what for" if she says anything to you tomorrow! thumb.gif

paradisemommy replied: go supermom..i love how outspoken you are when it comes to bf..i wish i could be more like you~ go and give it to them!!!! rolling_smile.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: banana.gif You go supermom! I would be doing the same thing! In fact, when my DS was about 10mths old he had to have his tearducts probed and was under general ansthetic. After the procedure I nursed him and I think I shocked out nurse! She asked me if I thought he was getting a little to old for that! I told her that I would continue nursing him as long as he wanted! thumb.gif

MomToMany replied:
thumb.gif I was going to say the same thing!

Give it to them good, supermom!!!

aspenblue1 replied: I can't believe a nurse would say that.

DansMom replied: I took Daniel to the library Sunday, and I was so happy to see a mom there nursing her 7 month old while reading a story to her 3 year old. I envied her---I've nursed in semi-public maybe three or four times, usually in a corner and facing away from a main area, but I was still apprehensive every time, fearing the opinions of others. We need more outspoken, confident supermoms in this world!

MomofTay&Sam replied: ohmy.gif I say whip out both of those bad boys at the sametime!! Just say in a loud WHISPER oh Emily you are so hungry today, both boobies hanging out! Maybe squirt some milk across the room, Opps? Me bad! Heck offer a boobie to the nurse, maybe she will forget her lunch at home? I know your are ticked and I would be to, she had no right to even say something like that. She is a nurse yes?

supermom replied: LOL - well, I don't know WHO it was I was talking to on the phone yesterday, but it was supposed to be a nurse, since I asked to talk to one, and I assume they put me on the line with one. But there weren't any problems when I went today.......there were several babes there (but they were bottle fed) and we all played and had a good time. No one said anything or even thought twice when I whipped 'em out to feed her......well, there was this one lady there who kept looking at me strange, but I just looked her in the eye and smiled my best smile, and pretty soon I think she got the hint.....

Thanks guys for all your encouragement (my DH would say that I didn't need any, and please don't encourage me to raise heck!) -

And Terri, you are awful!! Awful funny, that is.......thanks, I needed that when I got back today.

Kaitlin'smom replied: glad all went well. I was a little shy at first nursing in public but when she is hungry she wat to eat so I got used to it and pretty good at it, now I just have people asking how long will you BF......some times I answer nicly and if I am in not to good mood or sick of hearing that then its none of there business!

We deffinalty need more support when it comes to BF!

A&A'smommy replied: LOL that is great that all went well!!!!
