OH NO!!! What have I done???
mammag wrote: I just came over to the computer and saw something very disturbing! I took what I thought was Ibuprofen early this morning because I had a headache. Well, I was still sleepy and grabbed a bottle of Tylenol PM instead. Is this going to hurt the baby??? I'm bfing. He seems to be acting normal right now.
I'm so stupid! I can't believe I didn't read the label of what I was taking!!! No wonder I fell back to sleep this morning while I was getting ready to take the kids!!!
gr33n3y3z replied: I dont think so wait like 4 hours before you bf again if you can
mammag replied: It was early this morning that I took it. I just saw the bottle sitting there and that's how I know. I was tired all day and didn't know why.
DVFlyer replied: I'm not a doctor, but I don't think taking it one time will do anything. I imagine you're scared, so you would definitely want to check with your Dr.
kimberley replied: i was under the impression that tylenol products are safe during pg and nursing. i have used it with no problems.
DVFlyer replied: PS Is Ibuprofen ok for you to take? I thought aspirin based (which I think Ibuprofen is) medicine was to be avoided.
Boys r us replied: Oh no! I don't know the answer to your question, but I wouldn't **think** that it would be anything overly dangerous.
mammag replied: That is what they gave me at the hospital after I had him, in a large dose so that is why I take that.
The Tylenol PM has Diphenhydramine which is what I'm worried about.
Isn't there a site that has medications and their effects on bfing?
coasterqueen replied: I haven't looked yet but here's the site on safe drugs while BF: http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/aap-approved-meds.html
mammag replied: Thank you!!!
It says not reviewed but had an L2 (safer) rating.
Well, lesson learned. I'll just keep watching him.
aspenblue1 replied: tylenol pm is just tylenol and benedryl which I think are both safe. They told me it is safe while pregnant so I would assume it is safe.
kimberley replied: DV - i was told no aspirin during pg or nursing.
