Not to freak you out - Dee Dee.....

punkeemunkee'smom wrote: Spinach Recalled

unsure.gif This is happening all too often!

luvmykids replied: Wasn't there also just a recall on baby carrots? wacko.gif

eta: All the other recalls in the photo gallery.....niiiiiice huh.gif

lisar replied: Thanks for the info. I am glad I dont eat that stuff.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: wouldn't washing the stuff get rid of the salmonella? Or is it IN the spinach? I know I always let mine soak in cold water and vinegar, then I rinse it... before I eat it...

grapfruit replied: I think last time (w/the E Coli) it was IN the spinach and no amount of washing would help. I hadn't heard about this... *sigh*

You know a garden is sounding more and more enticing...and I hate gardening...

holley79 replied: Good Grief. I love baged spinich also. There is no telling with the soaking it if that would help.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh god...I bought packaged fresh spinach last week and both the kids and I seemed to have diarrhea, makes sense now. Although mine was organic, I don't know if that would really make a difference. Just depeds on the brand I guess. Yuck.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Great. Tanner loves spinach leaves. He'll eat them plain right out of the bag. Looks like we wont be buying spinach for a great while. I think next summer I'll be planting our own garden. dry.gif

momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: I remember hearing a news report about different methods of washing veggies.

Go Here to read the article. Most of it is boring, but down towards the middle/bottom they talk about how Chorline baths don't kill enough bacteria. sad.gif

Calimama replied: Ugh gross! wacko.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: Geeze, that seems weird. Wasn't this the same time of year that Crystal's niece died after eating tainted spinach in the spinach recall last year? ohmy.gif I was just thinking about that whole situation yesterday because I had a spinach salad for lunch. YIKES!!!

Crystalina replied:
Yes, she died on Aug. 22nd last year. sleep.gif

Izabella is having (a choice) of chef salad or mini sub today at school. I read her the menu every morning and when I read her what she was having this morning she said she is having the sub and not the salad because of e-coli. sad.gif It's sad but I did not argue with her. We do not buy any vegetables from the store. MIL has a garden and we get what we can from there. I will never ever buy veggies from a store. I'm sure it's being overly cautious but one death in my family from it is one too many for me.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: hug.gif I am so sorry Crystal! I did not think about the date being so close- bawling.gif hug.gif

Crystalina replied:
That's ok. We had a nice little gathering at her favorite park and let a bunch of balloons go for her. We all wrote messages on them, it was very nice. Then we had to deal with all the smaller kids wanting their balloons back. emlaugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I'm sorry Crystal. hug.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Acckkk! I hate this. I hate this!

Why can't the things we buy just be safe. blush.gif The toys and the food. Spinach and carrots are supposed to be good for you! Ashley and I just finished a whole dish of spinach-artichoke dip the other day.

Fish from China (which 90% of it is imported) has chemicals and antibiotics that are bad for us. Vegetables have E coli and Salmonella. So, what is left that we can eat?

punkeemunkee'smom replied: As much as I love them both the steak on the hoof in my back yard is looking safer and safer...well not Cookie...she had enough antibiotics to treat the Navy rolling_smile.gif ohmy.gif rolling_smile.gif

*I am just kidding...We will not actually eat Cookie or Toro* wink.gif rolling_smile.gif
