Not sure why but I am feeling - OLD

mammag replied: I completely know what you are feeling. I'm 34 now and am starting to see it. I hold fat like I never did. My squint marks are permanently etched into my nose and forehead. I've even gotten sunspots (only a couple small ones but enough to make it hit hard that my skin is not as forgiving as it once was).

I will see twenty something women and think, oh that's a cute hair style or outfit and then it always seems to pass through my head "yeah but you won't look like that...." or "you are too old for that look". I think I'd probably feel okay with the age if I were looking my best but I'm not right now and so I just feel old and frumpy.

I have already had grey hair since Mckaylee turned 2...wonder why?

Sometimes I feel really old and sometimes I feel like high school was just a couple days ago...I can even remember my locker combonation and schedule.

And I recently got glasses and I can actually see well now (didn't realize how bad it was) and now it's even more shocking when I take my 18 year old self and look in the mirror and discover I am really 42! But honestly, the number doesn't bother me and so far the wrinkles are not such a big deal either (although I did color my hair for the first time last year - too much gray!).

I can tell you this. We lost a very good friend last September at 46. He was diagnosed at 42 with leukemia. That really changed my outlook on many things, including age. And I will celebrate every birthday from here on out and be grateful that I have hair, be it brown or gray, and that I made it another year.

Not to be a downer but maybe that will put some persepective on those wrinkles and grays - it certainly beats the alternative!!!!!!

Why oh why can't we will the outside to line up with the image in our heads?
