Nintendo Wii
my2monkeyboys wrote: Who has it, and do you love it, like it, hate it? Is it made pretty well, or is it easy to break/have glitches in it? I'm thinking about getting Will one for Christmas, but I don't know anyone who has one. That's a lot of money to throw down and it be for boring junk, ya know? Thanks!
gr33n3y3z replied: we have it and all of us like it no problems with it yet
amymom replied: I am jumping in here, as we have considered buying it also. Lisa, What kind of games does your family like best?
Anthony275 replied: i have two
they're fun, you get these point cards you can buy in the store to download classic games. its worth it
gr33n3y3z replied: we have the sport game that came with it We have the new Mario Party game thats so much fun and we have the other Mario Party games for the Game cube We also have a few 1st shooters and 2nd option: trama center
Cece00 replied: We've had one for awhile & love it. We only occasionally let the kids play with it, only supervised by us. To get the system & all extra controllers & a few games cost well over $500, so they can only play it when we are there to play it with them...we didnt buy it for them anyway, it was for me & DH
TLCDad replied: We have a WII and really enjoy it. It is good excercise too when you play the sports games etc. Ashley really enjoys the Mario Party 8 game.
As for durability, it is pretty good. Though our first one started showing lines of pixels on the screen which is a common over heating defect. However, Nintendo has the best customer service IMHO. They not only sent me a new manually built unit. They sent it right way before needing me to send my bad one back. The new unit was built by hand instead of mass produced...this is not refurbished but with all brand new parts. They say they do this so that we would not have a problem with the new one.
But, do not let the fact that I had a bad unit first sway your decision because if you compare that to the XBOX 360 (which we own too and have had TWO go bad) reliabilty there is no contest the WII wins hands down. From what I read the 360's failure rate is over 30%!!! Though they say they have the problem corrected.
Calimama replied: It's awesome. It gets you up and moving, it's a ton of fun, holds up to Bella and wasn't too expensive.
Kaitlin'smom replied: we have it an LOVE it. Kaitlin loves some of the spot games and the Mario Party 8 also. Oh and if you play some of the sport games enough it is a good work out. IMO deffinalty worth it. Always a hit at partys
Anthony275 replied:
it's about 60%, but they just released the xbox 360 elite...same thing really, just bigger hard drive and it's not silver
Boys r us replied: Hmmph..we want one, but can't get one! Everywhere is sold out everyday! Drives me crazy!
redchief replied: We also have a golf game that I really like. The only bugger is that there are a couple of places where the trajectory math isn't quite right and that can be a little upsetting. So far I've refrained from throwing the controller into the street, mainly for financial reasons.
PrairieMom replied: We have one and love it. Benjamin can run it at age 3
my2monkeyboys replied: We have the regular xbox and the 360, and let's just say the regular one has been replaced twice! The 360 seems to be doing good, but only bc DH didn't get it until it had been out for about 8 months. Will has the regular xbox now, but it doesn't have very many kid games on it, and from what I've seen they're aren't putting anymore out. They're all for the 360 now. So I've been thinking of getting him a Wii, both for the kid-friendly games and the activity level it seems to have. When it's 100 degrees or raining cold outside it'd be nice if he could still get out some of his energy! I may have to save up and get one of these things. The main concern I had was the controller thing breaking easily. I can just imagine how many times it'd get dropped/thrown in the middle of playing tennis or something!
PrairieMom replied: There is a strap on there that goes around your wrist. Benjamin knows to use it. We have had ours since I think Jan. Or when ever they first came out, and both of our controllers work fine.
Jackie012007 replied: My boss just got one for the dayhome I work at - the kids love it! We have played the Mario Party game with 6 and 7 year olds, they loved it and it is very physical - GREAT for rainy days!
Man I was playing the Wii sports boxing game with my boss and I felt like I had been worked out for 3 hours by Billy Blanks!!!
my2monkeyboys replied: Well, then, it seems we have a Christmas present! Thanks for the help!!!
Calimama replied: I love the golf!!
TLCDad replied: Ah, yes the boxing game is definitely a nice work out. Thanks for reminding me, I need to play that again some more.
My only complaint about the Wii is that its graphics are so 1990s. It bascially is a Gamecube with awsome controlers.
I heard rumours that the 360 and PS3 will come out with similar controlers. That means Wii type game play but with much better graphics. However, with that said, Wii already owns the market with the contolers so it will be an interesting to see whats next.
I am interested in the Wii excerising mat that is coming out. That looks to be very "cool".
