Night trained - When?

CantWait wrote: I've asked this some time ago, but I'm asking again.

Anthony is now 3, and still doesn't stay dry through the night. I've tried not giving him liquids or anything for that matter for awhile before bed time, I've tried just leaving underwear on him, that's a hassle, but still he's not night trained.

What age did your child start staying dry throughout the night?

mummy2girls replied: im in the same boat as you.. jenna is almost 4 and still pees at night ... so she is still in pullups!

ediep replied: yup, Jason will be 4 in September and he still wears pull ups at night and sometime she wakes up dry and sometimes he wets in the pull up

Nina J replied: Emily will be 3 soon, and she wears pull ups to bed. Some nights she stays dry, and others she doesn't. She has told me she gets scared to get up and go to the toilet sometimes, and other times she doesn't even wake up.

I wouldn't worry about it, kids go at there own pace. happy.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: Ditto, here. Will is turning 4 in a couple of months, and he still wears pull-ups. He wakes up wet most mornings. It's something they'll do when they are physically ready for it.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am not exactly positive of when Christian was night trained, but it was a few months back. I am guessing around April or May. That would make Christian about 3.5 around then. We gave it a go one night back then, and have not looked back since.

A&A'smommy replied: ugh when are we going to be daytrained she is doing better but omg I never realized how hard this was anyway good luck I hope he trains for you soon!!! hug.gif

mummy2girls replied:
jessy it took me a year to get jen daytrained. some kids are just stubborn...LOL... dont worry she will catch on soon enough! i always bnelieve ..ignore the accidents and praise the accomplishments

A&A'smommy replied:
yes very good idea we do that I just hope it starts to kick into her stubborn little brain soon tongue.gif

CantWait replied:
I guess I should count my lucky stars.

Robbie was close to 4 before he was even day trained also. Once he was trained during the day though, it was day and night. It was scary because back home, school starts at 4.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Many parents, including myself, who I have talked to had the best results when they were just put in underwear (day and night), let accidents happen, then their children starting waking up to use the bathroom because their brain told them "hey, I need to go pee". Accidents will happen regardless, day and night. Even in their sleep they may be thinking "it's ok, I'll still feel dry since I have on a diaper". It's worth a try.

Is she a hard sleeper? Those are more difficult to night train. Some kids also have bladder control problems at night. My cousin's daughter was one of them. She had to have her bladder "trained" at night through a specialist. She was potty trained by age 2, but at night, she slept so heavily that she wore a diaper until she was 5 at night.

Oh, and Tanner was about 3 when he was night trained. 2 1/2 during the day, and a bit before his 3rd birthday at night. I just put him in underwear because I was was sick of buying and changing diapers. He caught on. I'm more stubborn than he is. wink.gif When you have an extremely stubborn child the only thing you can do is put your foot down and be more stubborn than them. He would still have a few night accidents, but its bound to happen, their kids.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade will be 4 in ab out a month and has been night-trained for about I would say a month. She was wearing pull-ups, but was remaining dry so one night she was half asleep and said I want my panties moma so I said why not. She has had an accident or two, but will be dry in the morning. Last night she woke up at about midnight and came out of her room vecause she had to go. She got something special today because that was the first time she's done that.

Zachsmom2002 replied: Well I have tried and tried to get my ds potty trained since he was showing signs at 2. I finally at the end of June told him I was no longer buying Pull-ups for him (pullups can be evil smile.gif ). He was just lazy about going to the potty (I guess I was too). So the end of June we did underwear and he has been fully potty trained since the first week in July. And I was lucky (because he drinks soo much during the day) that he has been night time trained since the end of June. He has had 2 accidents at night and that's only because he drank too much before bed and then refused to go to the bathroom before bed.

Good Luck I hope all works out soon!! I would just go cold turkey and then limit drinks just before bed.

CantWait replied:
Thank you. Like I said though I've tried the limiting of liquids, and just putting underwear on him for bed for a couple of weeks.

Obviously he's just not ready, and by the sounds of it, it's no big deal. We'll try again in another few months.

booey2 replied: Sorry I am late just wanted to let you know Thomas is now 4.5 and he still is not night trained and like you I tried the no pullups and just underwear and no liquids and the waking him up and nothing worked. I think their bodies just have to mature a little more.

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley day and night trained at the same time. I didn't plan on it, just happened that way. I didn't limit liquids at night because that is when she drank most of her milk, but she would get up in the middle of the night and go potty. Now, most nights, she holds it until morning.

Hang in there, I am sure it will happen when he is ready.
