Night dressing
BabyOwen427 wrote: With the nights getting colder I have put a quilt on my bed, but ds can't use blankets. How do you dress your infants for cold nights?
paradisemommy replied: the one piece pajamas that have the little footies on them..they make them really warm..
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Johnny uses blanket just like my other kids did. you can do warm jammies and sleep sacks but if I'm cold in multiple layers he is too so the blanket goes over him.
MyBabeMaddie replied: For REALLY cold nights I would put her in a sleeper with the built-in feet and put another sleeper over thats fleece and has no legs more like a closed bottom/dress. Recently I have been putting her in this blanket for swaddeling - its by Kiddopontamus - theres a bottom for her feet to go in and then it velcros to keep her swaddled (she's been sleeping through the night in it for awhile 10pm-8am) HTH
PrairieMom replied: We use a fleece sleep sack and swaddle with a cotton blanket.
JadensMama05 replied: my boy's been using a blanket since he was about 3 months old. we've never had any problems with it. i agree with MyBlueEyedBabies, if you're cold, so is your baby. maybe even more so. but some people dont feel comfortable letting babies use blankets, which is understandable. if you are one of those people, Sarah's advice is wonderful.
BabyOwen427 replied: Well I, not aginst using a blanket but he moves so much during the night that it gets kicked off and that just defeats the purpose I have been using layers dressing him in a onsie, pants, and then his sleeper over that but his hands are still freezing in the morning. I was just wondering if you guys had any good ideas or something.
PrairieMom replied: I swaddle Ally with her hands inside the blanket and she is always warm when she wakes up
my2monkeyboys replied: On really cold nights, I put thermal longjohn pj's on along with socks, then a footed sleeper. Then I also used a sleep sack, bc he always kicked covers off at night. Of course now I don't use the sleep sack (which I think is a God-send), but he still gets 2 layers of pj's. I've read that layering keeps you warmer than just one thick layer, so I go with that even going outside when it's cold.
jacobsmama replied: I agree with others! Great ideas!
Also, is the room he sleeps in colder? I know that Jacobs room use to be colder becacuse not many vents so I just ran a little heater by his door and that really helped but it can dry the air out. Otherwise wrapping the hands in the blanket is a good idea.
moped replied: I swaddled and used a sleep sack - but after doing some research and lots of asking the rumor on the street is that babies, children and adults sleep best at 18 Celcius - I don't know what that is in ferenheit but you could convert it - I am in cold counrty and it isn't that cold at night here and not in the house.......are you talking about in the dead of winter? If so, footed PJ's and a sleep sack would work......I did not realize that I was cooking Jack with the PJs, swaddling and a sleep sack.......blah can i talk tonight or what???? I swaddled Jack for 10 or more months!
mckayleesmom replied: I did that too.....My babies always had those automatic turn of heaters in there rooms for a bit each night....
holley79 replied: When Annika was smaller she was in a fleece sleep sack. Now she is older and doesn't fit in them. She does like snuggling into her quilt. I put her in footed PJs and cover her with her quilt.
BabyOwen427 replied: Thanks for the great ideas! I'm going to try a blanket in his bed and see if he'll keep it on.
lisar replied: I agree with the one piece jammies with the footsies built in them. Thats what I put on Raygen.
