akbutterfly83 wrote: Me and my husbend are trying to pick a nick name for Mason... and I don't know what to call him.... my whole family gives nick names to new children.... and all the ones I know are taken or don't fit.....

How did you go about picking a nick name for your child....?

And if you can think of any good ones..... for me to concider..... please do tell.....

Thanks

MomToMany replied: We never really "picked" one out. We just went with what sounded right or just came naturally with their personality.

5littleladies replied: We don't really pick them out either-they kind of evolve in our house. We happen along them because of their personalities or because of something they have done that seems to fit. happy.gif

Boys r us replied: I agree with the other ladies, we didn't pick a nickname out right away, we went with whatever came out due to their personalities.

I thought we would shorten Braedon to Brady once he was born, that was our plan, but I've never once called him that, he's always been Baby B or Brae Brae.

And Tanner, he's Tan Tan the Alligator man and now Bubby(brae calls him that..so we all have started) and also my brother, his little boy his name is Chase, well, somehow they started calling him C-ton(pronounced seaton) and now we've sort of made a running joke and we have Cton, T-ton(tanner) and B-ton(brae).

Kaitlin'smom replied: I did not pick Kaitlin;s either Ijust started calling her that after she was born and so far its stuck. Like the others say it just kinda evolves

mummy2girls replied: I call hert many things but it really isnt a shiortened version of jenna. I usually call her boo boo or baby or sweetie. But thats it. On occasion i do say jen

ediep replied: well, we just shortened Jason to Jay and then a few other evolved because of mood or actions....like cookie monster, cranky pants, fresh-man,

you'll see, a nick name will just "happen"

My2Beauties replied: Yeah with Hanna it just came out we started saying Hanna Banana or Hanne (pronounced Han-knee)!!! We also call her "stinky" because well you can only guess why wink.gif

akbutterfly83 replied: Thanks all.....

I was just wondering, cause I call him "bubba due", but dad don't like that one..... LOL.... so I was just wondering.....

In our family we just called them what came about..... like my little sister is Dolly, and her real name is vickimari, and my brother is a jr, but we call him lil joe....... I really didn't have a nick name, except when I was younger..... my uncles and dad called me mickfly.... that's about it..... but that wasn't until I was like 5 or 6 and then they stoped when I was like 13 or 14....

and cousins are toot, 1/2 pint or pinty, pumpkin, and handsom...... so I really didn't know..... LOL.... cause I didn't wanna call him something someone else has in the family.... and dh doesn't really like bubba due.... so I was just cerious..... that's all....

A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa didn't get nicknames right away except for baby, but now she is called lyssa, baby, sweetie, sweetheart, monkey (because she climbs on EVERYTHING), and I'm sure there is more emlaugh.gif

CCTandME replied: With my oldest we called her many little pet nick names as a baby. 1 was Bugaboo, which has been shortened to Bugsy. She is almost 6.

My 2nd slept so much at 1st (like all newborns) and my 1st had a book by Sandra Boynton w/ a character Dozy Dozy Dinosaur. So we call her Doze, Dozy, Dozer. She use to be Bumbles or Bum. When 1st walking she would stumble so I called her Tumble Bumble(another book name). Then she told me her name is Camryn Tooney-Nooney. So we also call her Tooney-Nooney, Tooner, Tabooner-nooner. Just a bunch of goofy rhymes.

My 3rd is Teagan. I just call her Teagy Monster, Monster Love, Teagy Teegers. Just what ever comes out. Just remembered another one, she is also called Hair Bear. She has sooo much hair. I never planned or picked any of them. They just happened.

I actually made a collage of pics for my BF w/ all of our oldest daughters nicnames around the edge. AHHH! Memories. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

kileyjae replied: DS1 is named Kiel (prounounced Kyle) and, on occassion, we called him 'Bud'. He really didn't have one.

DD is named LeeArwen and we usually called her 'Lee' or Sissy. When she was a Jr in High School, she requested that we call her by her full first name, so we now do so. We still call her Sissy too.

DS2 is named Jarrett. He is my 'looovvveeeebug'. However, I cannot call him that in front of his friends anymore. LOL We usually call him J. And, that came about, because, when I would email/write/IM people, I just used the letter J to indicate Jarrett. It just kinda stuck.

Josie83 replied: We always wanted to call Cassie Casse, but we gave her the loner version so she had a more formal name when she's older. And its a good telling off name! Jason sometimes calls her Cass. I don't know if you would say Cassie was a nickname or not . . . xx

loveydad replied: Well Vince is Vincent on his birth certificate, and Kel, is Kelton. Andriana goes by Andri, ect.

coasterqueen replied: Let's see we have several for Kylie but the two main ones are "booga/boogabear" or "short".

DH calls Kylie "short" because she seems so tall for her age. rolleyes.gif

I started calling Kylie "booga" or "boogabear" because when she was a baby I always seemed to make stupid noises like booga booga booga to her. Weird, I know. tongue.gif

april231979 replied: Hannah is either Hannah Banana or Princess.

It came naturally...it just fit.

MDmommy replied: We normaly call Jakub, Jake are Jay. For Nykolas, its normaly Nyck or Nycky. With Alexis, we have a lot of names for her, Lexi, Lexis, baby girl, hunny bunny, ect.. Nathan has a bunch too, Nate, Lil' man (because he is so little), Shorty ect.

redchief replied: Our nicknames or pet names for our kids just kind of happened.

loveydad replied: Oh you mean like that. Kel gets called "Kelly" . The twins are the "twits" and the little twins are the "twibbles" Tracy is always Little Miss Tracy. Nicky gets called Little NIcky because I had a roomate in college (long since passed on) that went by littel nicky.
